Greetings!
You are receiving this email because you at one time signed up as a Friend of Kiptopeke State Park or indicated that you would like to participate in this group.
It was decided earlier this year to retire this Friends group because of lack of interest, but I believe we can revive interest in this group which serves an important role in supporting Kiptopeke State Park. Nicki Tiffany and Susan Harris have done a wonderful job keeping the group going without a President or Vice-President, and I hope that you will attend the upcoming meeting (bring a friend!) and share information with others who might be interested.
I am willing to take on the responsibilities of re-invigorating the group until we have a new President so that we can continue to support our Park with volunteers and fundraising.
I hope you will join us on August 29th at 6.30pm at the Big Water Visitor Center at Kiptopeke State Park so we can share ideas for moving forward. We will finish the meeting in time for you to enjoy the sunset over the water. The parking fee at the Park is waived for volunteers attending Friends events, including meetings, so this is a great opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the sunset over the concrete ships and watch the pelicans make their way home for the night.
The main topic at this meeting will be how we can support the Park at the Kiptopeke Outdoor Discovery Day which takes place on Saturday, September 24th from 10am to 3pm. There will be many ways to support the Park which share your interests with others.
"Outdoor Exploration Day is committed to providing opportunities for visitors to experience and learn about Virginia’s Eastern Shore and the Chesapeake Bay. Through education, hands-on demonstrations and outdoor recreation, visitors will further their appreciation of these resources. This event is free, family friendly and will feature wildlife exhibits, educational games and activities, arts & crafts, and so much more. Kiptopeke State Park will also be celebrating our 30th anniversary. Join us at 1 pm for a special treat!"
Consider sharing this email with a friend, or bringing a friend along to the meeting. You don't have to be a member to attend the meeting (although we'd love you to join - the cost of an annual membership is $10 per Individual membership, $15 per family membership and $5 per member if you are a student, State or County Employee, Military or Senior over 62).
We will send out a reminder the day before the event. In the meantime please save the date. We look forward to seeing you!
With thanks,
Catherine Anderson
