Greetings Reynolda Members,

2020 is here, and we are wishing you and yours the best for the new year. We don’t want cold winter days and long winter evenings to stop us from enjoying time together and having conversations around art.

Join Reynolda team members Allison Slaby, Julia Hood, and Beth Hoover-DeBerry for a two day trip to Richmond, Virginia, from Thursday, January 23 to Friday, January 24, to experience the only East Coast venue of Edward Hopper and the American Hotel at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Curated by Dr. Leo G. Mazow, the Louise B. and J. Harwood Cochrane Curator of American Art at the VMFA, with assistance by Dr. Sarah G. Powers, the exhibition features Hopper’s depictions of hotels, motels, tourist homes, boarding houses, and apartment hotels. Dr. Mazow is a member of the Reynolda House National Advisory Council.

On this trip we will also view Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, and Mexican Modernism from the Jacques and Natasha Gelman Collection at the North Carolina Museum of Art.  Prior to our return to Winston-Salem, we will visit Maymont , an unusually complete example of a Gilded Age estate. The full itinerary can be accessed below.

Trip pricing includes accommodations, meals, attraction admissions, and transportation. Cost is $395 per person based on double occupancy, or $475 per person based on single occupancy. The bus will depart from Reynolda House at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 23 and return by 4 p.m. on Friday, January 24.

To join this trip we ask you to confirm by Monday, January 13 at 12 p.m.. The tour requires 25 travelers.
