Rhode Island State Police HIDTA Task Force arrest Woonsocket men on numerous narcotics and firearm charges 



The Rhode Island State Police today announced that on Thursday, September 28, 2023, the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force arrested two individuals for narcotics and weapons offenses. These seizures and arrests were the result of an investigation initiated by the Rhode Island State Police HIDTA Task Force regarding two individuals allegedly involved in the distribution of cocaine, and the execution of a court authorized search warrants at 57 / 59 Gaulin Avenue, 3rd Floor front and rear, Woonsocket, Rhode Island.


During this investigation, a total of eight firearms were seized including; a Mossberg .22 caliber assault rifle, a Windham Weaponry .223 caliber assault rifle, a Churchill Model 612 12 gauge shotgun, a Masterpiece Arms .45 caliber Mac 11 semi-automatic firearm, a GSG Firefly .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol, a Glock 43X 9 mm semi-automatic pistol, a Smith and Wesson .28 caliber revolver, and an Ideal Conceal .380 caliber pocket style foldable semi-automatic foldable pocket style pistol. Also seized were numerous extended magazines to include a 9mm drum, approximately 875 grams of cocaine, 80 grams of crack cocaine, 9 pounds of marijuana, narcotics distribution materials, and $21,000 in cash.


Demytris McDuffie, age 28, of 57 Gaulin Avenue, 3rd floor front, Woonsocket anTerrelle Nicholson, age 24, of 57 Gaulin Avenue, 3rd floor rear, Woonsocket were formally charged with numerous narcotics and firearms charges including:


  • possession of cocaine in excess of one ounce
  • possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance (cocaine)
  • possession of crack cocaine in excess of one ounce
  • possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance (crack cocaine)
  • possession of 1-5 kilograms of marijuana
  • possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance (marijuana)
  • conspiracy to violate the uniform controlled substances act
  • possession of firearms while committing controlled substance violations
  • possession of firearms by certain persons prohibited, and large capacity feeding devices prohibited.


Both subjects were special arraigned by a Justice of the Peace, and were held at the ACI Intake Center pending their morning arraignment at 6th Division District Court. 


The Rhode Island State Police High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force is comprised of members from the Rhode Island State Police, Providence Police Department, North Providence Police Department, Lincoln Police Department, Middletown Police Department, Bristol Police Department, Narragansett Police Department, Johnston Police Department, DEA Providence District Office, and Department and Rhode Island National Guard Counterdrug Program.
