The completion of the Emergency Winter Shelter ends three years of uncertainty for some of Concord's most vulnerable residents, and opens a new phase in our work to end homelessness in Concord.
Shelters don't end homelessness, but they are an essential part of our community strategy because they keep people alive and safe until permanent housing is secured. The Emergency Winter Shelter will accommodate up to 40 individuals during the freezing winter months. Located just steps away from our Resource Center, guests can make use of caseworker support, a shower, laundry and other services as they seek permanent housing.

This shelter was a true community effort, made possible by scores of individuals and organizations who have contributed time, talent and resources. CLICK HERE to see who!

What Now?  Housing!!

Shelters save lives, especially in the winter in NH.... but to end homelessness people need a home. Now that the Emergency Winter Shelter has a permanent home and responsibility for running it has been taken on by CCEH, we can focus on the work of permanent supportive housing for those who are chronically homeless, ultimately creating more time, energy and funding for those who are potentially short term homeless to receive the assistance they need in a timely and efficient manner.
NH Gives - June6/7

Get ready to give! Starting at 6PM on June 6, visit NH Gives and make a donation to us. We are aiming to furnish the new Emergency Winter Shelter with bunk beds, mattresses and storage bins, without which it's not very useful! You will have 24 hours to make your donation, and all giving will end at 6:00PM on June 7.  More later...

A 3-year campaign complete in under  a year!!!!

What can we say? Your tremendous generosity is overwhelming. Now that the shelter is built we can focus our attention on bringing more permanent housing solutions to Concord.

We thank you for putting your trust in us, and we make this promise: We will  not stop working until there are sufficient housing and services to support every chronically homeless person in greater Concord, and there is a system in place to rapidly re-house those who do become homeless.

We are over the top with gratitude for the caring spirit of our Concord neighbors!
