SCORE SE MA and the Taunton Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC) will co-host a 2-part DEI training session for members of TACC and SCORE. Diversity and Human Resources Consultant Lisa Harrison will facilitate the workshop titled Challenging Unconscious Bias and Moving Toward Racial Equity. Topics will include “Challenging your Unconscious Bias”, “Moving from Microinequities to Microaffirmations”; and “Bringing Racial Equity into the Workplace.”
There are 15 spots for TACC members - exclusively small business (25 or fewer employees) owners and managers.
The workshop will be held in the Margaret Stone Conference Room at Morton Hospital in Taunton, on September 30th and October 6th from 8:30 – 11:30AM. The registration fee is $50 and is reimbursable if registrants attend both sessions. A certificate of completion will be given to participants who attend both sessions.

Lisa Harrison is a consultant who has been working in the public and private sector for over 20 years. Lisa develops and delivers in-person training as well as virtual trainings, custom eLearning, and creating strategic plans. The focus of Lisa’s work has been on diversity and inclusion and how to make organizations become more inclusive and value the diversity of employees, customers, and students. Lisa holds a BA from Simmons University and an MBA from the Simmons School of Management.

New Sign and Façade Program and Expansion of Rent Rebate Program to Provide Financial Assistance to Local Businesses
Mayor Shaunna O’Connell recently announced the opening of the City of Taunton’s new Sign and Façade Program for eligible commercial properties as well as expansion of the City’s successful Rent Rebate Program to the Weir and Whittenton commercial areas.
Funded by Taunton’s allocation of American Recovery Plan Act (ARPA) federal funds, the Sign and Façade program will allow commercial property owners in qualified census tract areas to receive assistance toward improving the appearance and integrity of their buildings, in turn enhancing the beautification of the City’s urban neighborhoods and villages. Town of Dighton Invites Community Members to Participate in Economic Development Survey
Town Administrator Michael Mullen and Dighton Development and Industrial Commission Chairman Daniel Higgins, together with the Southeastern Regional Planning and Economic Development District (SRPEDD), invite residents to participate in the Town of Dighton’s newly launched Dighton Economic Development Plan survey.
The Dighton Development and Industrial Commission (DDIC) is working with SRPEDD to develop an Economic Development Plan for the Town of Dighton. This plan seeks to help town officials plan for managed economic growth in the community and future infrastructure investments while capitalizing on the culture and character of the town. Learn more.

This is an overview of Schedule C tax return preparation basics. Good practices including record retention policies will be covered. We will walk through the sections on the Schedule C (Profit and Loss From Business) and how it relates to the rest of the tax return. Expenses will be explained and a few specific expenses – auto use, home office and meals - will be described in detail. Deductions of benefit to self-employed people will be addressed. Lastly, there will be discussion of estimates.
