WRRF to celebrate Ribbon Cutting Aug. 31
City of Williston
The public is invited to a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Water Resource Recovery Facility in Williston. The program will be held on Thursday, Aug. 31 at 8:30 a.m. The celebration will mark the official grand opening of the $105 million facility. Following the ribbon cutting there will be a short program featuring former Williston Mayor Ward Koeser, City Administrator David Tuan and Williston City Commissioner Brad Bekkedahl. There will also be a short virtual tour, walking tours, giveaways and refreshments. Call Kristin at for more details.

Williston to make case for Hub City Funding Sept. 6-7

Williston will get another chance to make the case for continued hub city funding, but city leaders won't have to go all the way to Bismarck to do it. This time, they will get to make their case right at home to lawmakers from across the state, including those from the far eastern side. Read More

Williston School District continues to Grow; Enrollment expected to Top 4,000

Williston Public School District No. 1 has seen nearly 800 new students enroll over the summer, bringing the potential number of new students for the new school year to more than 4,100. At a school board meeting Monday evening, district superintendent Michael Campbell said that 41 new students had enrolled on Monday alone, and 141 - an average of 23 per day - the week before. The district won't have a good idea of total enrollment until after Labor Day, Campbell said, because it isn't yet clear how many students will be leaving the district. Read More

The Williston Chamber ambassadors held a ribbon cutting ceremony for Cardon Global Development at their new office located at 11 East Broadway in Downtown Williston. Cardon Global, the parent of Cardon Development Group, was selected by the City of Williston in 2015 to oversee the planning and development of the new Williston Basin International Airport. Cardon Global has also been engaged by the City of Williston to create a 10-year strategic economic plan to lead the city to new opportunities and an elevated national and international stature as a wonderful community to live, work and play.

Northwest ND Community Foundation gives more than $110,000; seeks More Donors

The Northwest North Dakota Community Foundation offers many ways to give to philanthropic causes in the area.

The Northwest North Dakota Community Foundation serves the communities of Williams, Divide, and McKenzie counties. The organization, which was formed in 2015, has invested over $110,000 through grants to nonprofit organizations and educators. The group is encouraging others to establish or contribute to an endowment fund that will continue to provide resources to our region forever! Read More       
Crestwood donates $150,000 to New Watford City Medical Center

Crestwood Equity Partners is the latest oil and gas company to contribute to Watford City's new medical center.   The company, which has an office in Watford City, is donating $150,000 to the new facility and will be naming the nursing station in the hospital side.  The $74 million medical facility has attracted a number of donations from oil and gas companies, many of them pledges made during the recent downturn. Tioga prepares for Slight increase in Enrollment

Summer might not officially be over until September, but that doesn't mean it isn't coming to an end. The Tioga School District will begin classes Monday, Aug. 21. The district will be welcoming three new teachers, two at Central and one at the high school.
Superintendent Carolyn Eide said this year's initial enrollment numbers are up slightly from last year at around 455 students, with 268 of those at Central Elementary School.  To read the full story, sign in to our online edition.
Construction wraps up at Divide County School

A recent look at the Divide County school properties may not give the impression construction crews and equipment will be out of the way in time for the first day of classes Aug. 23, but School District Superintendent Sherlock Hirning said the scene is going to "change drastically" between now and then. "The plan is to be ready for school to start," he said Friday. "A lot of things have to happen before then." The elementary school addition is wrapping up and will be usable right away. Groundbreaking held for Veterans Memorial Park in Watford City

The Veterans Memorial Park Groundbreaking Ceremony was held August 11 in Watford City. The purpose of the park is to honor our Veterans, past, present and future. The Watford City Veterans Park mission is to plan, build, equip and maintain a park to honor veterans who have honorably served their country. This includes any period of service beginning with the American Revolution. The park will promote patriotism and recognize veterans of all military forces. Read More
