We held our Annual "State of the County" Address on Wednesday, February 7th with Huntingdon County Commissioners Scott Walls, Patrick Reeder and Jeff Thomas. We had a wonderful turnout and attendees were able to receive updates firsthand from the County Commissioners.

On Thursday, February 8th, we held the sixth session for our Leadership Huntingdon County Program. This session was on education in Huntingdon County. Our presenters were Fred Foster, CEO of New Day Charter School; Jennifer Mitchell, Superintendent of Huntingdon Area School District; Trish Corle, Vice President of Student Services of Pennsylvania Highlands Community College and Michael Douglas, Assistant Director of the Huntingdon County Career & Technology Center.

This event has two sessions during the day, an afternoon session and an evening session.

Afternoon Session - 2:30 PM

Evening Session - 5:30 PM

Participants will gain insight into a wide range of opportunities, such as degree programs, coursework, transfer options, and more. Valuable information on athletics, student life (including clubs and activities), as well as financial assistance, will be provided.

Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from faculty members and current students, who will shed light on the college experience and post-graduation prospects.

Victim of unemployment fraud?

Criminals using stolen identities filed claims for unemployment compensation in other people's names. Because unemployment compensation is taxable, state unemployment agencies submit Forms 1099-G to individuals in whose names and Social Security numbers the unemployment compensation was paid and to the IRS. Victims of fraud who receive Forms 1099-G with inaccurate amounts of unemployment compensation in Box 1 should notify the state agencies of the inaccuracies and request corrected Forms 1099-G. Taxpayers should only report income they actually received on their tax returns. Do not report income you did not receive. The IRS offers tax guidance to victims at https://www.irs.gov/identity-theft-fraud-scams/identity-theft-and-unemployment-benefits.
