Rich Men??? 2/14/24

James 2:1-7 (KJV)

¹  My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.

²  For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment;

³  And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool:

⁴  Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?

⁵  Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?

⁶  But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?

⁷  Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?

“Do not RICH MEN OPPRESS YOU................................

AND draw you before the judgment seats?”

I am PROUD, (in want of a better word) to say I only watched a few minutes of the “so-called” SUPERBOWL!!!!

I did not have a dog in the fight as-ONCE AGAIN-my hometown NFL team sucked!!!

Can you say 28-3??????

I awoke, (PRAISE THE LORD FOR AWAKENING AGAIN!!) the next morning to see all the glitz and glamour over the repeat champions and their entourage.

I also took note of the people PRIVILEGED and WEALTHY enough to attend the game.

Only the “elite” were “blessed” to be there.

AND, a good time was had of all

Jesus spoke often of the perils of “richness.”

Mark 10:23 (KJV)

²³  And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!

As pertaining to GIVING and benevolence, I am struck by how carefully Jesus observed the people as they gave their tithes and offerings:

Mark 12:41-44 (KJV)

⁴¹  And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.

⁴²  And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.

⁴³  And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:

⁴⁴  For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.

The words “And Jesus SAT OVER AGAINST the treasury, and BEHELD HOW the people cast money into the treasury:

AND MANY THAT WERE RICH CAST IN MUCH.”

Our God does not miss a thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sadly, too often the reason some are “rich” is because they fail to give..........................

Before you tar and feather me, MOST of us are RICH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1 Timothy 6:6-12 (KJV)

⁶  But godliness with contentment is great gain.

⁷  For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

⁸  And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.

⁹  But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.

¹⁰  For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

¹¹  But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

¹²  Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

I, most likely, will never attend a SUPERBOWL and I could care less.

I/WE have a SUPERHEAVEN in out immediate future where Jesus assured us:

Mark 10:28-31 (KJV)

²⁸  Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee.

²⁹  And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's,

³⁰  But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.

³¹  But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.

I can wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
