Editor's Thoughts
When Licensed Professional Engineers are Not Used,...
People Die!!!
Utilities, and industry in general, seek "industrial exemptions" so they do not have to use higher paid licensed engineers to design and review construction or design drawings. It saves money. In Massachusetts, an unlicensed engineer reviewed gas line construction drawings. He missed a critical sensor. Someone died, and many lost their homes. A push is underway to remove the "industry
exemption." We will see.

A simple icy road rear end collision case generated $26,000 in expert witness fees that had to be paid by the defendant.
