Richmond, VA —This morning at approximately 8:52 a.m., Richmond Fire Department crews responded to the 1100 block of North 22nd Street following reports of a residential structure fire.

Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy fire conditions and immediately began fire suppression and search-and-rescue operations. Shortly after crews arrived on scene, a partial structural collapse occurred. A 70-year-old female was located on the first floor and pronounced deceased at the scene. A second victim, a 10-year-old male, was later located on the second floor and also pronounced deceased.

A third occupant, a 56-year-old male, was transported to MCV. The extent of his injuries is not available at this time.

The fire caused exposure damage to adjacent homes. Fire crews will remain on scene for an extended period as operations continue.
