Dear Valued Team Members and Ice Sports Family,
Once again, I hope that this finds you and your family safe and healthy.
Unfortunately we learned in the latest update from the Governor that we, along with all other entertainment, recreation and fitness facilities in the state, will not be able to reopen during the Forward Virginia Phase One plan.
Per the news conference yesterday, Phase One is scheduled to begin no earlier than May 15th and will last a minimum of two weeks. At this time they are giving us no other guidance of what Phase Two will look like, when it will start or if we will be included in those plans.
We will continue to monitor the guidance and information from the government and health officials and update you when we learn of anything new.
I know the uncertainty and extended time away from the rink has been difficult on all of our staff, coaches, volunteers and athletes. Many of us consider the rinks a second home and I am anxiously awaiting the day when we can welcome you back and we can all celebrate participating in the sports and activities that we love.
Happy Mother's Day to all of our Moms. I hope that you have a special day. We know the sacrifices that you all make for your families, especially our Skating and Hockey Moms!
I would also like to wish our high school and college seniors congratulations on your accomplishment! As the father of a nursing school and a high school graduate this year, I certainly know this wasn't the way that you planned your school year to end. Please don't let the lack of an in person ceremony diminish all that you have accomplished. You have overcome obstacles and challenges that no other graduating class has faced. Congratulations Class of 2020! I wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
