A MESSAGE FROM RICK

Hi everyone,

Thanks to all those who attended the May shows in Australia. As always, I appreciate your support. We had a wonderful two week season in Perth with 'The John Denver Story'. The audiences were amazing and I finished off with three solo acoustic shows in QLD and Northern NSW.

The band for TJDS is off the chart great!!  Four wonderful musicians out of Melbourne.  Ed Bates on pedal steel,  Tim Matthew on bass,  Roger Bergodaz on drums and Luke Moller on fiddle and mandolin. What a pleasure it is to play with these guys and a privilege to be presenting John's story and music to his fans. We've all put a lot of work into the shows and are having such a great time with it. We look forward to our Melbourne and Brisbane seasons coming up in late June through early August. Please look out for dates on the website www.rickprice.com.au,  we'd love to see you there. Remember it's a narrative concert not a tribute show so there'll be no blonde wig and glasses... though come to think of it.... :)

The solo shows were a treat for me and again the audiences were the best. I guess it's still my favorite way to perform - solo acoustic in an intimate setting.... what a blessing. I was traveling solo on the first part of the trip and stopped off at one of my favorite restaurants 'Harvest Cafe' just outside Ballina at a little place called Newrybar. What a sweet spot and the food is just great. Next stop was the 'Netherby River Cafe' in Kempsey ...sitting under a tree by the water - can't beat that!

I rounded off my trip home with a visit with my son Luke and my granddaughter Isabella Rose. We enjoyed a stroll around Terrigal followed by Yum Cha at Erina and of course a little visit to TOYS R US.

I returned to Nashville on May 23rd and on the 24th took an unplanned trip down the stairs and twisted my ankle... ouch!!!
Fortunately I have a great doctor who promptly presented some crutches and told me to go buy a big bag of ice and settle on the couch for a few days. I tried to stay put but my buddy Tommy Emmanuel was playing his end of tour concert at the TPac theatre in Nashville and naturally I wasn't going to miss that.

I literally hopped on stage, crutches and all, and had the pleasure of singing 'Moon River' one of my all time favorite songs that Tom and I recently recorded together on his latest album, 'Little By Little'. What a thrill it is to sing with Tom.... no rehearsal required - he makes it so easy. The show was incredible and Tom had his brother Phil along as a special guest, it was wonderful to see them play together again.

Crutches

My new album 'The Water's Edge' continues to prepare itself for your ears..... so excited about it - sorry for the delay... coming soon!
My multi-talented sweetheart Libby Ahlstrom is handling the art direction for the new album which is looking beautiful thanks to the Dream Team of photographer Anthony Scarlati and his wife graphic artist Rebecca Bauer. Rebecca and tech partner Jeff San George are also designing my brand new website which will be up and running any day now...

Life continues to surprise and bless us here in Nashville, we've made so many new friends. Libby has finished her first book and we are all dying to read it!! Jesse (the come back kid) our 14yr old staffy canine daughter, had her first ever modeling assignment today. As a trial accupuncture patient for the Hilsboro Veterinary Hospital, she had her pictures taken and posted on the Clinic's website... that dog i swear!

Thank you again for all your support, I look forward to seeing you all out on the road in June... happy travels.

 Love Rp x

LATEST FAN REVIEW

by Margaret Ryan

It is twelve minutes past eleven Thursday night the 5/5/2011 and I am on a high, no, I have not been drinking alcohol, no, I am not one who takes drugs, what I am is somebody who was lucky enough to have won two tickets to the Australian Premier of The John Denver Story that is appearing at the Regal Theatre in Subiaco (Perth WA) starring Rick Price and the Colorado Quartet and was lucky enough to have my good friend Kerry come with me to the show. Well the only disappointment I have with the whole evening is that it had to end.

To say the show was fantastic really does not do it justice, Rick did not in any way try to emulate John Denver's voice, Rick's own voice did beautiful justice to the songs and the Colorado Quartet, well what a talented foursome they are and the respect and rapport that exists between themselves and Rick, well the only way I can describe it is to say that it reminds me of the way Slim Dusty and his band worked together (yes I know the shows are totally different but the vibes are so similar)

I reckon there were close to, or over, two hundred other music lovers there tonight and I do not think I would be told I am wrong to say that the way Rick intersperced the songs with the story of how he himself got started on the road to a musical

career and then also gave a synopsis in between songs of how John Denver got started (no I won't go into too much detail of what he said) and sometimes the specific reason a song was recorded made it all so much more entertaining.

I could go on and on about the show, about the standing ovation at the end, suffice to say that if you love heading John Denver songs and want to find out more about Rick Price and John Denver then whether it is in Perth or in any other place in Australia that this show is being put on - GO AND SEE IT, without any reservations I will say YOU WILL ENJOY IT TO THE MAX.
