NEW IBERIA, La. -- The Cajun Rodeo Association Finals Rodeo presented by Jane’s Seafood and Chinese Restaurant and Allstream Services and Rentals will return to the Sugarena at Acadia Fairgrounds for the second year in a row.
The CRA Finals Rodeo will bring the top cowboys and cowgirls to New Iberia from across the great state of Louisiana on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, 2018. Along with St. Martinville's own, funnyman, Heath "The Dancin Cajun" Breaux and professional rodeo announcer, Blue Jeanes of Winnie, Texas, you will see the best that the CRA has to offer.
The first action packed performance will begin at 7 p.m. on Nov. 30 with the final performance again starting at 7 p.m. on Sat., Dec. 1. Admission to the rodeo is $10 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6-12, with 5 and under admitted for free. Gates will open at 5 p.m. and concessions will be sold.
Contestants will compete for year-end championships in their respected events such as Ranch Bronc Riding, Tie-Down Calf Roping, Steer Wrestling, Breakaway Roping, Team Roping, Ladies Barrel Racing and the highly anticipated favorite, Bull Riding. The rodeo will also feature the well-known Cajun Buddy Barrel Pick up event, something once witnessed you will never forget. From all walks of life, as young as 10 years old to over 65, they travel from home as far as the Texas state line to Southwest Mississippi and of course in between.
These contestants have competed all year long working towards this opportunity to battle throughout the weekend for over $50,000 in cash and prizes.
"There is sure to be something for everyone at the 2018 CRA Finals Rodeo," said Amanda Johnson with the association. "Kids 12 and under will have the opportunity to participate in a free calf scramble being offered during the rodeo performance nightly. Family fun and entertainment at its finest, the rodeo will keep you on the edge of your seat all night long!"
