Faith When the Answers Are Silent

“The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.” — Job 1:21

There are seasons in life when faith feels strong and clear, when prayers are answered quickly and God’s presence feels close. And then there are seasons like Job’s.

Job was a faithful man. Scripture tells us he was blameless and upright, a man who feared God and turned away from evil. And yet, in a matter of moments, everything familiar to him collapsed: his wealth, his livelihood, his children. What’s striking is not just what Job lost, but how he responded.

Job tore his robe. He shaved his head. He fell to the ground. In other words, he grieved honestly. Faith does not deny pain. Biblical faith makes room for tears.

But then Job worshiped.

January Themes

Pre-K ~ A Baby and A Bush

Elementary ~ Wisdom

Hey Parents!

Our January Pre-K RidgeRunners theme is "A Baby and A Bush" We're learning through the story of Moses how God made us to do big things for him and that we can grow in strength by obeying his commands every day.

Bible Point: How can I do big stuff for God? I obey God more each day!

Key Verse: "Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much..." Luke 16:10a

This January in Elementary RidgeRunners, we're learning how to make wise choices and how God loves to help us grow in wisdom!

Car Talk:

1. Why is making wise choices important to you?

2. What is harder for you to say: “I’m sorry,” “I was wrong,” or “You were right”?

3. Tell about a time you said something you wished you could take back.

Memory Verse: “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” James 1:5

-College Ministry-

Summit College Ministry connects and supports our college-age young adults by providing a bridge between their involvement in on-campus ministries and The Ridge. With that in mind, many of our studies and activities are scheduled during school breaks, but with a few more students and young adults in town, we will be adding some opportunities during the semester as well.

High school graduates ages 18 through 25 are invited to Summit events. Sam Lord is our college ministry coordinator under the direction of Nathan and Autumn Carr.

Prayer & Celebration

As a church family, we believe in the power of prayer and the gift of walking alongside one another in every season. We invite you to lift up the following individuals and families in prayer this week:

Jimmy Traywick

Please be in prayer for Jimmy Traywick, brother of Gary and Dawn Traywick, who has suffered a stroke and is currently in the hospital. Pray for healing, clarity, and strength for Jimmy, as well as peace and comfort for Gary, Dawn, and their family during this time.

Gabbie Watson

Please pray for Gabbie as she begins her second of three to five chemotherapy treatments. We ask the Lord for effective results, minimal side effects, and His comforting, steady presence to surround both Gabbie and her family. We also give thanks for her strength and for God’s faithfulness in every step of this journey.

Marietta Webb

Please keep Marietta in your prayers as she recovers from a fall that resulted in a torn Achilles tendon. She is currently awaiting guidance on next steps, and we pray for wisdom for her medical team and peace as she navigates this season.

Ann Flynn

Please lift up Ann Flynn, Leslie Ginn’s mother, as she continues to recover following surgery to remove her gallbladder. Pray for strength, healing, and renewed energy in the days ahead.

Charleigh Kate Alana Graham

We joyfully celebrate the birth of Charleigh Kate Alana Graham, born December 28, 2025, at 6:48 p.m. CT, to proud parents West and Abby Graham. Arriving a bit early, Charleigh Kate is spending time in the NICU and has required some oxygen support, but she is doing well and has already been weaned off some support—praise God! Please continue praying for her continued strength and healing, and for Abby as she recovers well after delivery.

If you have a prayer request or know someone in need of prayer, please email Andy at andy@theridgecolumbus.com. It is our joy and privilege to pray with and for you.
