Julian has long been revered as a special place. It is a way to escape the city noise and fast pace, as Julian moves a bit slower. You’ll catch folks having conversations instead of hurrying around. We encourage you to take it all in, slow down and enjoy the fresh air and friendly people.

No trip to Julian is complete without enjoying a piece of its famous apple pie or a visit to Lake Cuyamaca. It is a lovely little lake with boat rentals, fishing, and views of our beautiful, natural environment. You can even enjoy lunch overlooking the lake.

Antelope Valley: California Poppy Reserve

When the weather warms up, a quiet corner of northeast Los Angeles County bursts into life with California’s state flower. The Lancaster poppy fields have the perfect weather conditions for the California poppy, making it one of the best places to frolic amongst fields of orange in the Golden State. 

Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve is usually the best spot in Southern California to see the orange flowers when they bloom. 

Orange is the color of joy and optimism, and one of the best ways to boost your spirits this spring is by seeking out fields of magical California poppies in full bloom. From forest-covered mountains and seaside meadows to cracks in a city sidewalk, these cheerful flowers are found across the Golden State (especially in March). California poppies are the state’s emblem, thought to represent the fields of gold that drew so many to the west. Indigenous Americans even once used California poppies as medicine to combat anxiety and as a sleep aid. 

Santa Barbara: Cold Spring Tavern

Cold Spring Tavern is the place for the best tri-tip sandwich, probably a trademark for Santa Barbarba area. This place is one of my favorite destinations while on 2 Wheels...Deluxe.
