For You, O Lord, bless the righteous man [the one who is in right standing with You]; You surround him with favor as with a shield.
Joshua 1:5 AMP
No man will [be able to] stand before you [to oppose you] as long as you live. Just as I was with Moses, so will I be with you; I will not fail you or abandon you.
Many have understood, taught and limited God's favor to "as a good thing waiting to happen". The perception of the Lord's meaning and expression of favor is typically based on the world's assessment of favor - Can you do me a favor? Can you give, get, go...for me? It forms the mindset of "maybe you can; maybe you can't"; which is generally and sadly ascribed to God's ability - maybe He can, maybe He can't.
God's favor is multifaceted. Yes, it causes good things to be for us; divine encounters to align; injustices overruled; and bad reports overturned. All these things are of God's favor for His beloved - His children, (born-again believers in Him). Yet, there is an element we must include - God's favor also surrounds and protects us as with a shield.
It goes before us, awaiting our arrival at the place He designates; but it also goes with us as His protective covering of peace, assurance and safety. These are sure to be as we obey His voice for direction and instruction. Since He is such a great and loving Father, His grace will activate His protective favor on the occasion we miss the mark, and when we choose our way instead of His. (WARNING - this is not to be taken lightly as a lifestyle of devaluing His love and care, taking Him and what He offers for granted.)
Attacks coming at us from the devil; accusations, insinuations and condemnation from his representatives torment our mind and position of faith; his inciting insecurities and fear plaguing our disposition and tenacity - all to throw us off the course God charted for us. Nevertheless, the favor of God surrounds us...saturating and insulating us in His great love. The power of His favor repels enemy agents, moves obstructions, aligns (re-aligns) our lives, and stokes our passion to follow Him.
Why? Because we have set our hearts on Him who cannot...will not leave, fail or forsake us.
Why? Because His plan and thoughts for us are of good and not evil, with an expected end He has established.
Why? Because He backs His plans, even commanding and causing them to manifest.
Why? Because He loves us...YES, God loves you just that much.
Embrace the fullness of His shield....embrace the fullness of the Lord God Almighty

Dear Jesus,
I believe You are the Son of God.
I believe You died and rose from the dead on the third day.
I believe You are alive and now seated at the right hand of the Father.
I believe You died for my sin; paying the debt for sin that I could not pay myself.
Please forgive me for all my sin.
I invite You into my heart and my life to be my Lord and Savior.
I am forgiven. I am now born-again. I am now a child of God.
Thank You, Lord.
