“‘another cycle in the cosmic wash’ feels remarkably self-assured. Ringing’s ability to break apart dense walls of sound with moments of fragile melody gives the record a dynamic edge, while Walker’s lyrical revisions add a layer of personal honesty that anchors the otherwise dreamlike atmosphere.”
- CRUCIAL RHYTHM
“On their studio debut, Ringing successfully separated themselves from their genre peers and many rock acts across all subgenres, with a valiant, vulnerable LP that is both experimental and accessible.”
- GLIDE MAGAZINE
“Thrashing and reflective… Opening with blistering guitars, the track soon accommodates Walker’s softly contemplative lyrics before the two sonic poles meet later in the song.”
- FLOOD MAGAZINE
“Heavy, moody rock from a Brooklyn power trio.”
- NINA PROTOCOL
“Has a knack for bathing introspective lyricism and spiraling melodies in rich, sludgy atmospheres.”
- THE UGLY HUG
Brooklyn three-piece Ringing, the project of bandleader Colton Walker, are excited to share their debut album, another cycle in the cosmic wash, available everywhere now via Julia’s War Recordings and Signal//Noise Records. The band’s first full-length effort delivers a visceral yet mindful sonic experience that moves beyond typical shoegaze conventions. Ten songs explore the complexity of trying to better yourself while breaking difficult patterns, resulting in an honest expression of perseverance and a conscious, heartfelt vision.
"The album reflects on the cyclical nature of recovery,” Colton explains. “Sometimes it’s easy to feel like you’re destined to repeat the same mistakes forever, but over time you start to recognize the pattern and learn how to navigate it. The important thing is to just keep going."

In January, Ringing announced their debut album with “incandescent,” which premiered with an official visualizer. The song treks through sludgy guitars, capturing the discomfort of self-realization. The three-piece recently brought their gnarled, wall of sound riffs to Traffic Court Studios in Harrisburg, VA, for a live performance that is available now on YouTube.
Last month, “want2want2” premiered via FLOOD Magazine with an official music video, chronicling a fall into numbness and the turning point where everything changes. Slick drums cut through heavy drones of distortion, bringing metallic tones and raw lyricism to the forefront. “You could start living more consciously, searching for something more interesting, desperate for any anomaly,” Colton sings as the track descends into crushing riffs. The track was also featured on Alternative Press’s weekly playlist and praised by Glide Magazine, Nina Protocol, and more. “rose/bud/thorn” arrived earlier this week, maintaining hope in a moment of transition as blown-out guitars contrast lyrical vulnerability. Elongated riffs diffuse the tension, leading the song down a path of heavy catharsis and distortion.
