Celebrating Our Earth in Our Schools
It's been a busy month for learning about our earth in schools across the area.
Students at Conrad Fischer School in Elmhurst created a mural out of plastic bottle caps. Way to recycle with creativity!
After weeks of hands-on projects and learning, the students of Prairie School of DuPage in Wheaton have earned their Earth Flag. Congratulations!
Jay Stream Middle School in Carol Stream borrowed materials for a school exhibit on recycling and re-use.

SCARCE had a special mention with a banner that read "SCARCE is Making Our World More Awesome" including information about our special collections. Thanks for spreading the word!
The Environmental Club at Hinsdale South High School in Darien created a pollinator rain garden on the school grounds.

Parents, students, school administration, and, even the village, all came together with the help of Science teacher, Adam Hallihan, to bring the garden to life.

ABC's of Smart Recycling
Did you know the value of recycling isn't only in reclaiming materials?

Whether you are making a new aluminum can out of an old one, or playground materials out of old tires, recycling saves energy.

Learn more about recycling and energy on this month's ABC's of Smart Recycling blogpost.
Create A Recycling Station
The Green Committee at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Glen Ellyn created a recycling station using teaching materials they discovered in the SCARCE ReUse Center.

This display informs their community about all kinds of local recycling services and events which encourages reuse as well as proper disposal. The collection boxes are for special collections all around our local area.

What a great way to create an interactive collection center that helps our planet!
