A monthly update to inspire collaborative youth leadership and action for our blue planet
Monthly Youth Organization Spotlight

Save Philippine Seas (SPS) is a non-profit organization that aims to protect coastal and marine resources by mobilizing "seatizens" for collective action and behavior change. SPS's work focuses on environmental education, waste management, and shark conservation, and all initiatives hope to engage, educate, and empower its target communities. The majority of its projects focus on youth: Change the Current promotes climate education and action among students between 10-19 years old; Earthducation increases conservation literacy among educators; the Sea and Earth Advocates Summit provides micro-grants to youth-led projects; and the YSEALI Marine Accelerator Program builds the leadership capacity of youth across Southeast Asia. Learn more about SPS at www.savephilippineseas.org, Save Philippine Seas on Facebook, or @savephseas on Instagram and Twitter.

Arya Yurdacan
Arya Yurdacan is a 19-year-old young entrepreneur from Istanbul, Turkey, and studying international business administration in Estonia. Living in an area very close to the water, plastic waste is an issue near and dear to Arya’s heart. She knows it's not enough to know a subject or have an idea for a project; it’s also very important to know how to turn it into action.

So she created a start-up, Entella, and with her team invented a machine to combat pollution by collecting solid waste while also creating awareness. Entella was chosen as the JA (Junior Achievement) Europe Company of the Year and also received the FedEx Access Award for connectivity and sustainability.
Arya was also recently selected as one of Europe’s “20 under 20” which highlights some of the continent's most talented young entrepreneurs. She believes that everyone can be a changemaker, and has a deep passion for supporting young people in achieving their conservation goals.
