World Ocean Day: Southern Hemisphere Edition & IG Live - As we near the halfway point for World Ocean Day in June, it also means it's nearly 8 December and a great time to celebrate World Ocean Day with the start to summer for those who live in the Southern Hemisphere! Download this social media toolkit and post to show your support on 8 December! As a part of the celebration, the International League of Conservation Photographers is partnering with World Ocean Day to host an Instagram Live for a discussion between World Ocean Day Youth Advisory Council Member Matsobane Malebatja of South Africa, and National Geographic Explorer Jahawi Bertolli of Kenya. They will discuss topics including the power of media in conservation, ocean action and Marine Protected Areas in Africa, and how you can help protect the planet. At 10am EST/ 6pm EAT on 8th December.

IMPAC5 - The Fifth International Marine Protected Area Congress is a global forum that brings together ocean conservation professionals and high-level officials to inform, inspire and act on marine protected areas. Virtual and in person. Registration rate varies. Held in Vancouver, Canada from 3-9 February, 2023.

#YouthLeadSDG14 For Global Climate Action - Young people between the ages of 18-30 from Commonwealth member countries are eligible to participate and are invited to submit photos and videos on actions they have led or contributed to which promote the blue economy and awareness of SDG 14 actions at large. £3,000 in prize money to be shared among the three winning participants. Deadline to apply is 8th December.

Youth Ocean Conservation Summit - Returning to Mote Marine Laboratory in Florida for the first time in two years, this event aims to unite young ocean leaders, equipping participants with the knowledge, tools and more to launch solutions-oriented ocean conservation projects in their local communities. 10th December; Registration open until 7th December.

2023 Max Thabiso Edkins Climate Ambassador Program - The Global Youth Climate Network, in partnership with Connect4Climate, seeks motivated young leaders from across the world for a six-month online program catalyzing youth climate leadership. Participants will connect with one another, learn from World Bank experts and GYCN and C4C knowledge partner, and take meaningful climate action both in their communities and globally. Ages 18-35. Deadline to apply is 10th December.

20th Annual International Ocean Film Festival - The film festival showcases independent ocean-related films from all over the world. There is one winning filmmaker in each of 10 different ocean-related categories. In-person event on 13-16 April in San Francisco, California. Deadline to submit is 31st December.

Ocean Guardian Youth Ambassadorship - This NOAA Sanctuaries program provides a new level of engagement for US-based youth aged 12-18 committed to ocean conservation and stewardship of our blue planet and share ideas, experiences, and support for ocean conservation and stewardship efforts. Deadline to apply is 6th January, 2023.

Ocean Protection Council Summer Internship Program - This internship aims to provide undergraduate college students with an opportunity to gain hands-on experience with a small state agency focused on protecting and enhancing the state’s coastal and ocean ecosystems and ensuring easy, affordable access to and along the coast for all Californians. The 10-week, full-time paid internship includes experiential learning, multidisciplinary collaboration, mentorship, professional development, and opportunities to work with multiple stakeholders. Deadline to apply is 6th January, 2023.

2023 SolvEd Youth Innovation Challenge - An opportunity for youth ages 24 and under to submit a tech-enabled solution that addresses an unmet social, environmental, or economic need in their community. Whether the solution is a concept, a product that is being prototyped, a service that is being piloted in your community, or a fully operational nonprofit or for-profit organization, you are welcome to apply. Selected participants receive $5000 USD, and winners receive a prize from a pool of $100,000USD. Deadline to submit 24th January 2023.

Content Proposal: The Power Shift Convergence 2023 - Be a part of the collaborative intersectional environmental space with three days of programming containing a variety of narratives, arts, and climate lenses. The goal is for the majority of presenters/facilitators to be Black, Indigenous, and/or POC, and reflect a diversity of ages, socioeconomic classes, educational backgrounds, sexual orientations, gender identities, races, and abilities. Sessions can be 45, 60, or 90 minutes each. Proposals will be taken into consideration on a rolling basis until 1st February.

The Keeling Curve Prize - This annual prize seeks to activate and accelerate climate solutions from many different voices and corners of the world. Categories are: Carbon Sinks, Energy, Finance, Social & Cultural Pathways, and Transport & Mobility. $35k USD awarded to two projects in each category. Application open globally; submission window ends 10th February.

30x30 Collaboration - Looking for youth and youth-focused organizations in Peru, Ecuador, Belize, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Honduras, Bolivia, Cameroon, and Ghana.
