Recent shootings of police officers in Alaska and the Lower 48 highlight the need for ballistic vest protection for our law enforcement officers. The AMLJIA has instituted the Ballistic Vest Reimbursement Program to help our member police agencies and their officers stretch their budgets while obtaining life-saving protective gear.
Eligibility & Application Process:
- Eligibility to participate. This program is open to all AMLJIA member agencies whose police officers or VPOs meet Alaska Police Standards Council standards.
- Approved vests. Agencies must purchase NIJ compliant Threat Level IIIA ballistic vests.
- Reimbursement. After taking delivery of the vests, submit your completed application and proof of purchase to the AMLJIA for reimbursement of up to 50% of the purchase price.
- Approved Vendor: At this time, Northern Security, Inc., of Anchorage, is an approved vendor and currently has a 3-year state contract to supply ballistic vests to the State and the Village Public Safety Officer program. Eligible participants are able to purchase a Second Chance SUMMIT SM02 vest for $895, a significant savings over retail price. If you purchase through another vendor, you must purchase NIJ compliant Threat Level IIIA ballistic vests.
Our law enforcement officers put their lives on the line daily. The AMLJIA can help you provide an added layer of protection for those who protect us. Call 800-337-3682 or
