Summer is a busy time at River Bend, especially for missions.
As I am writing this, I am in Nueve de Octubre working with our Peru Water Team installing 11 water catchment units. That’s 11 families whose lives will be changed because they will have access to clean water.
On May 24 our Peru Pastor Training Team will arrive and spend a week training pastors who minister all along the Amazon River in small village churches. But some of the most important things we will do that week is love on these pastors who feel so isolated and unprepared. We will encourage them, pray with them and let them know they are not forgotten.
June 1-5 we will be on mission in our community as we invite children to come to Vacation Bible Study. This year it is all about illuminating the truths of Jesus at Illumination Station. What an amazing opportunity we will have to teach that Jesus is the only way to God.
June 14-20 our youth group will be in Mobile, Alabama for a week of mission action. They will have performances for senior adults, men overcoming addiction and women who are working to gain independence for their family; serve at the Gulf Coast Food Bank; work with children at a day camp and minister to women and children at Grace‘s House of Hope and Home of Grace for Women. It will be a great week of loving people in Jesus' name.
At the end of July we will send our first mission team to Honduras to work with the children at the School of Hope in San Pedro Sula. We will work with the children, help with some much-needed repairs at the school, and lend a hand at a medical clinic.
What a busy summer! I’m so glad our church likes to serve.
1 Peter 4:10 As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.
