River Fire Update
The River Fire that is impacting the Grass Valley and Colfax area has impacted Northern California Conference members and employees with mandatory evacuations. “Sadly, we have had reports that some members and employees have lost their homes in this fire,” said Director of Communication and Development Laurie Trujillo, co-leader for the NCC Disaster Response Team.
“Fortunately, we implemented our disaster response strategy, so within a few hours of the order to evacuate, we were in contact with our leaders on the ground,” said Community Services Director James Lim, co-leader for the NCC Disaster Response Team.
“Our Disaster Response Team has been working tirelessly to develop and implement a plan that clarifies how we can best serve our members and complement the services provided by local, state, and federal governments,” said President Marc Woodson. “Although it is still being implemented, we are grateful that it has helped us stay connected with our members and employees, as well as support them, during this very difficult time.”
The NCC Response Team is in regular contact with leaders in the area who are doing an excellent job of maintaining contact with members and those who are connected to the local churches and schools.
If you would like to donate to the NCC Disaster Relief Fund, which provides cash support for basic human needs to members and those connected to NCC churches and schools during the first 14 days after a mandatory evacuation,

“The situation is evolving rapidly, and the one way to help is to donate to our
Disaster Relief Fund, which allows us to respond quickly as needs arise,” said Trujillo. “Also, we ask everyone to keep our members, NCC employees, and first responders in your prayers.”
