DARTS, a community-based nonprofit serving older adults and their families in and around Dakota County, is proud that
Ann Bailey, President of DARTS
, has been selected as the 2019 Minneapolis Aquatennial Commodore for its 80
year, recognizing her leadership excellence.
Aquatennial was founded by business owners as a way to promote Minneapolis and the Twin Cities. The
Aquatennial Ambassador Organization
mission is to inspire young women to achieve extraordinary futures by providing professional development opportunities through networking and mentoring. Ann’s role as Commodore is to lead the Ambassador family, consisting of the Queen of the Lakes, two Aquatennial Princesses and two Captains in promoting Minnesota and Minneapolis.
For the first time in 80 years, the Commodore and the two Captains are all women. Bailey is pleased that her team represents women in various leadership phases in their lives:
Jackie Paul, Development Associate with 360 Communities
and Marjorie Weinhagen, Mother of Three and Office Manager at Weinhagen Tire Company.
The Ambassador team will make over 300 personal appearances across Minnesota and seven appearances throughout the United States and in Winnipeg, Canada. Bailey decided to take on this volunteer task because it is an excellent opportunity to reach out to women of all ages to demonstrate we are all community leaders and provide mentoring through conversations and example. Their mission is to fulfill the Aquatennial mission and to empower women to find and use their leadership voices along the team’s tag line of “
strength with compassion
