Greetings HRFA Members and Friends,
I hope that as of this writing, we find you all well and safe.
As the COVID-19 situation continues to improve and many are vaccinated, the Elks lodge is open for limited
attendance according to the local state regulations. We were happy to hold the May HRFA General meeting at
the Elks Lodge following the NJ State capacity advisories.
We were glad to see those that attended. The meeting was also livestreamed, allowing “distance participation”. Steve Liesman, a well-known CNBC journalist and avid fishermen, gave a vary engaging presentation on Striped Bass fishing. He shared his experience and principles he has adapted, the basis for his “Save a Million Bass” commendable initiative.
Our next General meeting will be held, outdoors, at the PIP, Alpine Pavilion. We are looking forward to seeing you on Tuesday, the 8th of June 2021. We are planning a picnic, fishing, and presentation on the PIP. For details of the meeting please see above.
The Annual Fred Rung Memorial Catch and Release Striped Bass Fishing Derby has ended. Congratulations to the winners and thank you to the participants and the contest organizer Joe Albanese. We appreciate the support of all involved.
We are planning a number fishing contest initiatives for the coming months, as well as Youth Angler Program activities. Please follow the announcements in our newsletter and the THEHRFA.org website.
As you are aware, many of the HRFA activities continue to be suspended or postponed. As we are closely following the current safety and health recommendations on the COVID-19 and reassessing and planning accordingly.
We participated in the Ridgefield Park Earth day event. Our volunteers guided and assisted the young Anglers. We appreciate the valuable contribution of Wayne Guider, Al Miller, Arnie Ulrich, Al White and Kevin Morgan.
I have been receiving photos of your catches. Please note that these are to be send to Alex Spindelman, a.spindelman@gmail.com to be posted on Instagram.
Reports are still indicating that 2021 is continuing, to be a challenging, but tempering COVID-19 year. The Sportsmen, Outdoors, and Fishing shows, are suspended. At this point, we are postponing our activities, the Annual Award Dinner, and the Auction, that we eagerly look forward to every year. These functions are also used for raising funds. We will be looking for alternatives for generating funds to enable us to successfully conduct the HRFA very worthwhile programs. We thank you for your help and appreciate your donations.
Be well and stay safe
