Algonquin Outfitters BATTLE of the PADDLE :  A technical and high-paced sprint with teams covering a 500+m saw-tooth course that included 4 buoy turns. Heavy rain kept everyone cool but did not damped the spirits. The One-Design format for canoe classes received lots of positive feedback.  Not only did it keep the event moving smoothly, it gave everyone an equal playing field, highlighting paddling abilities over watercraft design.   This event challenged even the best paddlers but left everyone smiling, laughing and looking forward to next year.  Many teams paddled in multiple events. With non-stop, back-to-back heats there was always a race to be cheering for. The day finished with a great meal at the Cookhouse Saloon and awards.   RESULTS

Battle of the Paddle = FUN!
Head-To-Head action right from the starting block
Algonquin Outfitters THE OX : Mother Nature provided a spectacular day for the 10km Sprint, 30km Tri-Paddle and 40km Marathon.  Leaving Algonquin Outfitter’s main dock area, teams paddled south into Oxtongue Lake and up the beautiful Oxtongue River to the base of Ragged Falls; leaving paddlers feeling like they traveled into the heart of Algonquin Park.  Returning downriver, teams completed their 10km loop at AO’s main dock.  For our new Tri-Paddle class, paddlers changed their watercraft and complete the course again; 10km each of SUP, canoe, and kayak.  For the 40km teams, 4 laps were on the menu. With this new location and multiple laps, spectators and cheering squads were always present, and paddlers could replenish their supplies.  Paddlers of all ages and most boat classes were on the water including SUP, K1, Rec/Stock/Marathon Canoe, and for a first time C4!    RESULTS

THE OX Paddling Race Weekend PHOTOGRAPHY: A special thanks to Randy Mitson and Limelight Muskoka for posting over 870 professional photographs that will help you remember your weekend at Oxtongue and share your experience with family and friends.

Algonquin Outfitters MUSKOKA RIVER X :  Registration is open for the remaining spots that will have teams paddle the 58km Sprint, 133km Classic or 223km Coureur des Bois .  This past weekend we received many questions about the Coureur des Bois and the minimum number of teams we need to host it.  20 teams are ideal to cover the expenses however we think we can scrape by with 15 teams.  We are currently at 6 teams.  July 15 th is our Go/No-Go Date.  If the Coureur des Bois is on your bucket list, we encourage you to register before July 15 th to keep this event on the schedule.  For those who do register, if we unfortunately need to cancel we will move your registration to the Classic and refund the difference. If you are wondering, we will be running the B-Side again this year.  Start practicing your night-time navigation on open water!  Lake of Bays after dark challenged many teams last year.
