REAA NEWSLETTER
A newsletter to keep you informed about what's "up with arts."

Letter from the BOD President:
Dear Members and Friends,

This month's newsletter is coming out a little late this month.  It took me longer than usual to recover from the busy holiday season!  Happy 2019!!

We are ready to kick off 2019 with the first of three concerts as part of our second annual Winter Concert Series.  The first concert in January will feature Astro Sasquatch who will present an evening of Jimi Hendrix.  Read on for more details on this concert and the other concerts this winter.  Proceeds from all of these concerts will help us support the Arts Alliance.

Our a cappella group, REHarmonix, will resume rehearsals at the end of January.  The group is accepting new singers.

If you are a visual artist, we have many opportunities for you to showcase your work.  We have 3 different venues in Hudson where we regularly sponsor exhibits.  Read on for more information on our Visual Arts programs.

On a personal note, I wanted to let everyone know that this will be my last letter as the REAA BOD President.  I will be stepping down from the board at the end of this month.  I will continue to teach voice lessons for the River's Edge School of Music and I will be helping our CAO Danielle get our new CRM database system up and running.  You'll also see me at future events from time to time as well.

I'd like to thank everyone for all of your support of the REAA during my time on the board.  I am honored to have had the opportunity to serve this amazing organization.  I leave you in very good hands with our current CAO and BOD members.

Warm Regards,
Lisa Schliker -  REAA BOD President

This month, we are kicking off our Winter Concert series with  Astro Sasquatch .  They will be presenting an evening of Jimi Hendrix.

Astro Sasquatch at its core is a Classic Rock Blues power trio using Hendrix, SRV, & Robben Ford as their foundation from where they can stretch out in any musical direction. They are known for playing a unique blend of familiar danceable songs and fun instrumental tunes from many genres that provide a unique show you won't see anywhere else.

The group has performed at several Central Massachusetts venues including The Cannery and Starlight in Southbridge, Beatnik's in Worcester, and Bolton Street Tavern in Marlborough. They were also a featured performer at the 2018 Hudson ArtsFest.

This event is made possible by our sponsor, Main Street Bank.

Space challenges - We need your input!

theater-sm.jpg Did you know that one of our biggest challenges is finding affordable places to run our programs and performances?  We have some amazing partners in the community that have helped us over the years, including the Hudson Public School System, Hudson Town Hall, Assabet Valley Regional HS, and many more.

Given that the community is growing so quickly, many of the venues that we have utilized in the past are becoming more and more difficult to book for our events.  Many area venues charge fees, but we  always strive to offer our programs at an affordable rate. We don't want to simply pass along those costs by increasing our registration fees or ticket prices.

Over the next few weeks, we hope to host a forum to discuss this topic.  We'll be looking for input from members of the community.  Be watching for an announcement on this topic soon!
