Dear brothers and sisters in our Lord Jesus, part of the growing repentance remnant, members of His flock, of which Jesus is the Shepherd (John 10:16), Jesus being the first to preach His gift of repentance (Matthew 4:17), now calling on each of us also to preach repentance (Luke 24:47).
As we come into the Feast of Tabernacles each day joy is commanded: Leviticus 23:40: "And you shall take of yourselves on the first day the fruit of beautiful trees, branches of palm trees, and willows of the brook; and you shall REJOICE before the Lord your God for seven days."
The joy is appropriate because of our earlier repentance, turning back to God.
According to the New Spirit Filled Life Bible, page 1457, as part of the joyous celebration, the priests brought water to the temple in a golden pitcher from the pool of Siloam. This symbolized God having Moses strike the rock, God supplying water from the rock (Exodus 17:6). During the procession the people recited Isaiah 12:3 " Therefore with joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation."
Isaiah 44:3 also speaks of this: " For I will pour water on him who is thirsty, and floods on the dry ground; I will pour My Spirit on your descendants, and My blessing on your offspring..."
The water in the golden pitcher was poured out on the altar as an offering to God, while the people shouted and sang.
And then one day, Jesus was the fulfillment of that ceremony!
He appeared on the last day of the Feast of Tabernacles: "On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water." But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified." (John 7:37-39).
So today, you and I, we who have sincerely repented and are disciples of Jesus, now in His Kingdom, with His indwelling Holy Spirit, can each day be channels of spiritual refreshment for others, moving in the ever-flowing fullness of the Holy Spirit-filled life.
Please join me in this prayer: " Heavenly Father, in Jesus' Holy Name, please help me be a channel each day of spiritual refreshment to others. May I be one of Your vessels of Your Holy Spirit, giving from my cleansed heart Your Living Water of Life. Thank You for Your faithfulness, Lord. Help me take higher ground, all for Your Glory. In Jesus' Holy Name, Amen and Amen."
