Oak's Buddy Family (7th grader Eliza, 6th grader Christopher, 5th grader Colin, 4th grader Pearl, 2nd grader Isla, and 1st grader Anders) met up in Assembly recently to play a game and create a secret handshake.

It's crunch time for middle schoolers going into exams and for the parents organizing the auction; please support us in the ways described below!

Happy Monday,
If you live in a tuitioning town for the NEK Choice District, you should have received second semester tuition vouchers in the mail before the new year. Please complete and mail them to the listed address as soon as possible. If you need another copy please contact Krystal who can get you one.
Thank you to everyone who made a donation or solicited from area friends and businesses, we are excited to put together this year's catalogue and set up the auction event!

Parents who are organizing still need more volunteer help, especially if we want to enjoy food at this event! Please consider helping with:
kitchen - you won't have to cook, just help plate prepared items, restock tables, and direct 8th graders
clean up - help put the LI library back in its original form, and haul and load supplies into cars to be brought back to Riverside
If you're willing to lend a hand to one of those chores, please let Krystal know .

There will be babysitting available on-site, led by high school-age Riverside alumni, for the first 15 Riverside students to sign up, ages 3-12 are welcome. We ask that parents pick up their children soon after the live auction ends, even if you need to return to the check out line. Cost will be $20 for one child, $10 for each additional, please plan to pay the sitters directly in cash the night of the event. There are 10 spots left! Sign up with Krystal .
Please remember that our handbook says: " Lunches and snacks should not include candy, chewing gum, soda, or caffeinated beverages. The school asks parents to support these guidelines. " S tudents are discouraged from sharing such items if they do have them so as not to infringe upon the values and dietary habits of other families.
6-8th graders will be taking semester exams and presenting final projects in their academic classes this week.

Please support students at home by helping them to take ownership of their organization and study plans, recognizing that the goal of exams is to show their teachers what they know and can do, and that good habits now will help them manage this task throughout high school and further studies.

Chaperones - Please confirm your plans with Nelia if you have not already. Please read through the relevant schedules/expectations (K-3 Chaperone Duties; 4-8 Chaperone Duties) and sign and return the Assumption of Risk form.

Pick Up at 3:30 inside the lower entrance of the Burke Mountain Base Lodge. If you would like to give your child permission to ski/ride at Burke unsupervised until the lifts close at 4:00, please let Nelia know directly .

Snacks : Thank you to those chaperones who have already volunteered to bring some for all our students, in addition to volunteering your time. We'd appreciate the help of a couple other families who could provide snacks, if you're willing, please email Nelia . Having snacks for everyone to share helps with the perceived inequality of some students making purchases in the cafeteria and provides healthier options for all.
We plan to be on the trails this Friday afternoon, as well as the following Fridays: January 25, February 1, 8, 15, and March 8.

Chaperones: Joel and Hanna are coordinating logistics for these adventures, and will rely on you to carpool and ski with a small group. Please communicate clearly and in advance with them about your participation. They would welcome extra helpers if anyone is willing. Keara Kresser '09, AmeriCorps Volunteer for KTA, will also be leading students on the trails.

Pick Up at 3:00 at the parking lot between the Wildflower Inn and the KT Nordic Center on Darling Hill.

Snacks: We'd appreciate the donation of snacks for our small group from any families who are willing, please email Mr. G .

Robotics Club is cancelled for today so that students can focus on preparing for semester exams.
Japanese Club continues today in the Carriage House (Kindergarten classroom), from 3:45-4:30, with language and table manners/chopstick skills. If you would like to participate, please email Sachiko . Please pick up students at 4:30 or make arrangements with Sachiko, who is responsible for them until they are picked up. We ask that students not come back to the After-School Program after leaving for a club.
No Chess Club this week because of a faculty meeting.

No matter the size of your gift, it's the act of donating that matters most. Please consider making a gift today if you haven't already. We strive to have 100% of our parents, faculty, and trustees participate in giving to Riverside, as that makes a powerful statement about the strength of our community. We thank you.
