Good afternoon Riverside Families,

We hope you enjoyed the weekend! Thank you to all the the 5th grade parents who were able to volunteer at the Biztown field trip this week! It is always one of the favorite field trips in elementary school as our students have been learning about finances during those Junior Achievement Biztown sessions.

Our 5th Grade Admirals leadership crew will be running a food drive next week. Please check out the information below. Friday will be a college colors day so students can wear their classroom college colors loud and proud!

5th Grade Admirals Food Drive

'Tis the season for giving! Please help the Riverside Admirals, our 5^th grade leadership club, as they embark on their first service project of the year! All next week, November 18^th – 22^nd, the Admirals will be collecting non-perishable food donations for our local Menomonee Falls Food Pantry. Donations can be brought to students’ classrooms so that the items can be counted and tallied. The winning classroom will earn an ice cream treat and movie. Please reach out to Mrs. Baker with any questions!

A Message from our Physical Education Team

We recently completed our first round of fitness tests in PE classes. You should have received an emailed fitness report from Fitnessgram. This is a snapshot of your child's fitness scores for the fall. The goal is to have students score in the Healthy Fitness Zone for each test. The tests completed were the PACER, Push ups, Curl ups, Trunk Lift and Sit and Reach tests. There is a brief description of what each test assesses and why it is important under your child's score. If it is marked as "No Data" for your child, they were either injured or absent for the test.

12th Annual Festival of the Trees

Monday, November 25th

^{Decoration will take place at Shady Lane Elementary in the front corner near the drop off entrance at 4:30pm-5pm (Or until all trees are decorated)}

^{Trees purchased from Minors of Milwaukee}
^{Art decorations will be created by the students K-5th Grade from Ben Franklin, Riverside, Shady Lane and Valley View! Come and Decorate your School Tree!}
^{Art Teachers will organize decorations for their schools tree at the beginning of decorating.}
^{Due to the amount of decorators, ornaments will be first come for decorating. Students will not always get the ornament they made. There are hundreds of ornaments made for each school.}
^{Please arrive dressed for outdoor activities in cold weather.}

🥪 Our next restaurant night is from 4-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20 at Café Zupas.

🙏 We've been busy here at PIE the last few weeks, with Trunk-or-Treat, the Ben Franklin Scholastic book fair, and BF's Grandparents Day Bingo Night & Ice Cream Social all happening so closely together. We at PIE greatly appreciate all those who helped make those events possible, either through volunteering, donations, or attending. Thank you all!

🎉 Wednesday's PIE meeting was packed! Thanks to all those who attended, especially if it was your first time ever or your first time in a while. Our next gathering is the PIE social. Please join us for this casual get-together on Thursday, Dec. 12 at Third Space Innovation Brewhouse.

There are many opportunities to help out at school. Whether helping in the classroom, at PTO events or chaperoning a field trip, we'd love your help.

To ensure that all adults who come in contact with your children are safe to do so, we run background checks on all volunteers. You can apply today to be a volunteer at the link below. Please note that it does take 48-96 hours for the process, so if you want to volunteer, apply early.
