What's for Lunch?

Reminders

Good afternoon Riverside Families,

Thank you for taking the time to come in for conferences last week and partnering with us. Learning binders are coming home this next week, if they didn't already at conferences, for you to continue those conversations about goals and next steps with your child. Please see below for more information.

If you need anything, please feel free to reach out to me.

Respectfully,

Scott Walter

Learning Journals Coming Home

All Riverside classrooms will be sending home learning journals during conferences or next week. Students all have learning journals that they add to throughout the year to keep track of their progress on grade level learning targets and personal goals. We will be sending them home a few times this year school-wide in order to keep communicating with families about progress and keep the conversations going. Please see the attached documents for more information and also some discussion prompts that you can use with your child as you look it over with him/her and send back the following week. Thank you!

A Piece of the PIE

👍 A friendly reminder that you can always stay up to date with the latest PIE info, including reminders of all our upcoming events, on our Facebook page.  Join the Ben Franklin Riverside PIE Facebook group if you haven't already!

🥪 We raised nearly $550 from October's restaurant fundraiser night at Chick-fil-A. Thanks to all who ate some delicious chicken and raised money for our schools. Our next restaurant night is from 4-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20 at Café Zupas.

✏️ Our next PIE meeting is slated for 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at Ben Franklin. We hope to see you there!

Cell Phone Policy/Apple Watches

Please take a minute to review the cell phone, apple watch, electronic device policy below with your child. As you know, safety and learning are our two biggest priorities. We have noticed that sometimes devices are interfering with both of those things when they are out during the day or students are using their apple watches to communicate. If your child does need to get a hold of you during the day or vice versa, their classroom teacher and our office will always help with a standard phone call. Students texting during the day is not allowed and can be a distraction. Thank you for your cooperation!

From Our Health Room

There has been a slight uptick in viral/bacterial infections. If your child is coughing a lot or has a fever, we encourage you to keep them home to rest.

Does your child need medication?

Sometimes students need medication to be administered during the day by our staff in the health room. There are specific forms linked below that need to be filled out before we are authorized to dispense that medication - prescription or over the counter medication. Also, please keep in mind that parents/guardians should always transport that medication and drop off in our office. If you have any questions, please give us a call.

Want to help?

There are many opportunities to help out at school. Whether helping in the classroom, at PTO events or chaperoning a field trip, we'd love your help.

To ensure that all adults who come in contact with your children are safe to do so, we run background checks on all volunteers. You can apply today to be a volunteer at the link below. Please note that it does take 48-96 hours for the process, so if you want to volunteer, apply early.
