The following snow removal protocol and winter parking policy is in effect in Riverton City:

  • No vehicles may be parked on city streets during a snow storm or where snow has accumulated between November 1 and March 1.
  • Major roadways, high-traffic areas and school zones are prioritized in snow removal efforts as a matter of public safety.
  • Minor roads and cul-de-sacs are cleared if 4 inches of snow or more has accumulated once main roadways are clear.

POLICE MESSAGE:
SAFETY REMINDERS FOR THE HOLIDAYS
By Chief Don Hutson

Unfortunately, we in the business of policing find ourselves working extra hard during the holiday season due to an increase of thefts which typically occur at this time of year.

First, we must acknowledge the sad fact there are individuals living among us who are exerting an unbelievable amount of energy, every day, to formulate a plan to steal property and otherwise victimize the law-abiding citizens in our community, even during the holidays. Prime targets for these thieves are packages left on porches, checks received in the mail, gifts purchased and left in vehicles, and vehicles left unattended while warming up.

BANGERTER HIGHWAY AND 12600 S INTERCHANGE UPDATE
Following the completion of the State Environmental Study (SES) for roadway improvements at Bangerter Highway and 12600 South, UDOT continued to meet with Riverton City to address concerns about potential visual impacts from the proposed design. Results of these discussions led to a reevaluation of the original SES and a modified design of raising Bangerter Highway approximately 15 feet and lowering 12600 South approximately 13 feet (measured from the center of the existing intersection grade). This design does not change the original overpass alignment or property impacts; however, eastbound and westbound lane closures will be necessary during the lowering process of 12600 South, for a period not to exceed 6 months. The reevaluation found no substantial difference in noise impacts.

To learn more about the project or to view the study documents (including visual renderings of the proposed interchange), please visit the project website at the link below. For questions, please contact the project team at bangerter@utah.gov or by phone at 888-766-ROAD (7623).
