FINAL REMINDER: SECONDARY IRRIGATION WATER SHUT OFF

Riverton City’s secondary irrigation water system will be shut down on Friday, September 23. This comes as a result of two of the primary canals Riverton City receives water supply from being shut down on that date, which is about a week later than we were originally told. Water may remain in the system for a short time as our storage ponds and pipes drain.

Secondary irrigation water is typically provided by Riverton City to residents from May to mid-October, but availability is entirely contingent on the supply of water through local canals. Local canal companies, which Riverton City does not control, make decisions based on their supply of water from Utah Lake or other sources. This year, supply of water has been impacted by ongoing drought conditions.

HONOR A VETERAN, SPONSOR A WREATH

Riverton City is proud to sponsor the Wreaths Across America program at Riverton City Cemetery to honor and remember veterans buried there. Each year, wreaths sponsored by community members are laid at the graves of veterans prior to Christmas following a special ceremony.

Residents and those with loved ones in the cemetery are encouraged to sponsor a $15 wreath that will be laid at a veteran's grave at Riverton City Cemetery.

If you sponsor two wreaths, a third will be provided for free!

PREPARE NOW: 96-HOUR EMERGENCY KIT

Most people have heard that they should have a 72-hour kit, but what about a 96-hour kit? Based on an assessment of the most current data estimating the extent of damage to transportation corridors and critical infrastructure in the Salt Lake Valley, it is estimated that it would take at least 96 hours before outside resources began to arrive. Given this data, we encourage everyone to prepare their own 96-hour emergency kit. Click on the button below to see what items you should include in your kit.

911 Calls

If you ever need to call 911, please stay on the line if you don't get an answer right away. The Salt Lake Valley Emergency Communications Center (VECC) occasionally has many calls come in at once and it takes a little time before all can be answered. If you hang up, your call will go to the back of the phone queue, which may delay emergency response.

988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline

A brand-new nationwide resource is available for individuals experiencing suicidal thoughts or other mental health crisis. Similar to dialing 911 for emergency response, dialing 988 will connect callers 24/7 to trained crisis counselors who can provide support and resources to those in distress. Please note the number and don’t hesitate to call, or text, should you ever experience a mental health crisis.
