Join us for the inaugural Riverton Police Department Swearing-in Ceremony on Tuesday, June 25, at 7 p.m. at the Riverton High School Auditorium! Each officer and civilian staff member will be introduced to the public and the 35 officers of the new department will be sworn-in. Both Riverton Mayor Trent Staggs and Chief of Police Don Hutson will provide remarks. Attendance is open to all interested. Riverton residents are specifically encouraged to attend to meet the officers who will be serving in the community. Refreshments will be served at the end of the ceremony.

The Riverton Police Department will take over law enforcement operations from Unified Police Department on July 1, 2019.
Eight candidates have filed to run for three city council seats up for election this year. Candidates include:

District 1: Sheldon Stewart
District 2: Tracie Halvorsen, Troy D McDougal, Cherity Simons, Devin Yost
District 5: Lara A. Huff, Claude Wells, Steven Winters

A primary election will be held on August 13 for Districts 2 and 3. The general election will be held on November 5.
The 2nd Annual Best of Riverton Photo Contest began on June 1 and continues through the end of July! Residents, neighbors and visitors are encouraged to submit photos of life and landscape in Riverton. Submitted photos will be used to tell Riverton’s story in communications and marketing materials. Contest winners will receive a cash prize, have their winning photo featured with attribution on the city’s social media pages and website, and will be recognized at a Riverton City Council meeting. No need to be a professional photographer to participate!

7:15 & 7:30 a.m.

Start Independence Day off right by running in the Riverton Country Mile 5K or 10K races! This annual tradition is held in conjunction with Riverton Town Days on July 4. The 10K begins at 7:15 a.m. and the 5K begins at 7:30 a.m. $20 to register.

Riverton’s annual Chuckwagon Breakfast is one of the community's favorite Town Days events! Buy your tickets in advance to avoid the line. Featuring traditional breakfast food and large portions, no one leaves hungry.

July 2 - Spikeball
July 4 - Basketball, Cornhole, Pickleball

In addition to annual favorites like the 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament and the Pickleball Tournament, this year we have added a Spikeball Tournament and a Cornhole Tournament. Details for each tournament are available at the link below. Space is limited, so register now!

Pre-sale Cost: $25 ($10 discount)
Not valid on Buddy Night on July 2.

The Riverton Town Days Carnival is BACK, this year with 19 amusement rides from Brown’s Amusements! Buying wristbands in advance will save you $10 for what you would pay at the carnival for a wristband on July 3 & 4. Pre-sale wristbands are not valid on Buddy Night on July 2. Wristbands allow unlimited rides for a single day only.

Application Deadline
Tuesday, June 18

Applications for entries in the Riverton Town Days Parade on July 3 are due on Tuesday, June 18. There is no cost for Riverton residents, businesses, or organizations. A $20 fee is charged for non-Riverton businesses and organizations to participate. Only a few spaces remain, so get your application in! For parade details, click here.

Centennial Park - Parking Lot Maintenance
The Centennial Park parking lot will be closed for maintenance on June 17-18. The park will remain open during this time.

Fall Baseball - Registration Open
Help your kids learn the basics of baseball by registering them to participate in our Fall Baseball program! We have the following age divisions: tee ball (3-4 years old), coach pitch (5-6 years old), machine pitch (7-8 years old). Games begin the week of August 5. For details, or to register, click here.

Flag Football - Registration Open
Registration is now open for Flag Football! We have divisions for 1st-2nd Grade, 3rd-4th Grade, and 5th-6th Grade. This is an excellent program to introduce your kids to the game of football. Games begin the week of September 9. For details, or to register, click here.

Glass Recycling
A glass recycling collection bin has been placed behind City Hall. Residents are encouraged to save their glass recycling items and deposit in the bin as needed. The bin is accessible from Park Avenue.

Landfill Disposal Vouchers Available
Disposal vouchers for the Trans-Jordan Landfill are available at the Riverton City Utility Billing Office at 12830 S Redwood Road in Riverton. The vouchers will be available until June 30, 2019. Limit of two per household.

Splash Pads Open
Splash pads at Old Farm Park, Riverton City Park, and Western Springs Park are now open for the summer! The splash pads will remain open until September 3.

Sidewalk of Fire - Fireworks Notice
The Sidewalk of Fire event will be held on Friday, June 14, from 6:30-10 p.m. at Riverton City Park. The customer appreciation event, sponsored by many businesses, is open to the public. A large fireworks show will take place that evening. Anyone in the surrounding communities with pets or those who suffer from PTSD are urged to plan accordingly. Click here for event details.

Tracy Aviary Nature Exploration Classes for Kids
The Tracy Aviary is hosting weekly nature exploration classes for kids at Dr. O. Roi Hardy Park along the Jordan River in Riverton through the end of August. Parents wanting to introduce their children to nature and science are encouraged to bring their kids. Classes are held on Thursdays at 10 a.m. with the exception of next week, where the class will be held on Wednesday, June 19.
