SECONDARY IRRIGATION WATER AVAILABILITY UPDATE
Riverton City has been notified by local canal companies that water in canals will only flow at 40% on Monday, May 2, to flush the canals of any debris. Given this development, Riverton City is asking all residents and businesses to wait to use secondary water until Wednesday, May 4, or later. Initial communication from Riverton City noted that secondary irrigation water would be available on Monday, May 2, so please note this change.

Even though the secondary irrigation water system is full and pressurized in some portions of the city, which is required for maintenance, there is no source of water that will sustain use of the system until May 4.

ACT NOW: STANDING WATER A MAGNET FOR MOSQUITOS
Almost any standing water can be suitable habitat in which mosquitoes can complete the early stages of their life cycle. These habitats include desirable standing water such as ornamental ponds, birdbaths, livestock watering troughs, old tires, buckets, etc. Keeping water in such locations clean by emptying and refreshing it regularly can help prevent mosquito production. Where this is not practical, South Salt Lake Valley Mosquito Abatement District can provide mosquito control products, including mosquito fish, at no charge.
