RESIDENTS REMINDED OF WINTER PARKING POLICY AND SNOW PLOWING PROTOCOL
As winter is upon us, it’s important to note Riverton City’s winter parking and snow removal policy and protocol:

  • No vehicles may be parked on city streets during a snow storm or where snow has accumulated between Nov. 1 and March 1.
  • Major roadways, high-traffic areas, and school zones are prioritized in snow removal efforts as a matter of public safety.
  • Minor roads and cul-de-sacs are cleared if 4 inches of snow or more has accumulated once main roadways are clear.

A map identifying major arterial roads, major collector roads, school zones, and snow removal sections can be viewed at here. Snow removal problems may be reported online at rivertoncity.com/report.

Riverton City will begin Mission “Slim” Possible, an individual weight loss competition on Jan. 2. The competition, which began in 2010, brings people together to compete in a friendly way as they seek to live healthier lifestyles.

“The program has been a great way for people to get committed to their health and fitness goals,” said Kevin Willett, recreation coordinator with Riverton City. “Everyone that has finished the program has lost weight. It’s great to see people feel better about themselves.”

Beginning with an individual weigh in on Jan. 2, the program continues through Feb. 28. Participants are responsible for their own fitness and nutrition programs but are weighed-in weekly as part of the competition.
