A Note From Dr. Compton
Dear Lions,

I understand that it's Super Bowl Sunday and many of you will be doing what I'm doing tonight, which is watching the Super Bowl. Therefore, I'll keep this short and sweet.

Parents, I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate each of you. Over the past few weeks, I've put out a few requests for assistances. Some of the requests have been in form of responding to a survey (i.e. 2019 calendar input, middle/high school schedule, and PBL feedback). I've even asked for help with a last minute video idea about the 100th day of school. You all came through ( see the video here ).

Then on Friday evening, you all blew me away with how many of you showed up to the PTO trivia night. I had a blast hanging out with each of you and with our PTO. You all even left with a little more knowledge than you came in with. We now share a bond because we both know how many tiles it takes to stretch from one end of our building, to the other.

Parents, thank you for being such an important partner of ours.

Have a wonderful week!

Sincerely,
Robert Compton, Ph.D.

School-Wide Information
Thank You Parents
Parents, thank you so much for spending your Friday evening with us. It was great seeing so many of you at the PTO Family Trivia Night.

To the PTO and other parent volunteers, thank you so much for organizing such a fun night.
A Message from the Riverwalk Academy PTO
We hope to see each of you on Monday at the next PTO General Meeting. Immediately following the meeting, we're having a kindergarten information session. We hope you consider staying for the information session so the prospective families can meet you.
100th Day - 100 Reasons
Parents, thank you for sending in your photos. We shared this linked video on Friday.

We hope you enjoy.
Book Swap
Save the Date : February 7 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

How it works:

Turn in your gently used age appropriate books (grades K - 9) from home to Ms. Baumeister , Mrs. Hyleman , Mrs. Reneau , Ms. Mavrakis , or Mr. Ogburn .

You will then get tickets for each book turned in. There is a maximum of 5 books you may turn in. Each book is worth one ticket.

After you get your tickets, join us on the night of the book swap to trade your tickets for new books. You can then take your new books home to enjoy!
Winthrop Basketball vs. Presbyterian College
Save the date for 2/13/19 at 7:00 pm when Winthrop mens basketball takes on Presbyterian College. The game will open to the sounds of the Riverwalk Academy Choral Singers as they will be singing the National Anthem. We'll share information later this week on how to purchase your discounted tickets so you can cheer on the Lions as we show our support for the Winthrop Eagles.
Final Days of the Jr. Beta Club Food Drive
The Junior Beta Club food drive ends on Wednesday. The collected food will be delivered to the Pilgrams' Inn Wednesday afternoon. The food drive was to end next week, but we're having to cut it short by a week due to the request of the Pilgrams' Inn. Please contact Ms. Greenberg or Ms. Slifer if you have any questions.
Lion Artists of the Week
(picked by Dr. Compton's daughters)
Check out Riverwalk Academy's online art gallery at  Artsonia . Artsonia is the World's Largest Student Art Museum. Yet it's so much more than that! It's a free, safe, educational program designed to connect parents and families with their child's creative activities at school.

If you have any questions, please contact  Ms. Griffith.
