Dear Lions,
Words cannot express the gratitude I'm feeling towards our Pride right now. We've had some outstanding weeks at Riverwalk Academy, however, this past week has to be one of the best. In the words of Josh Pray, an up and coming comedian, here are my "5 things" why this past week was a great week.
Number 5: Our Track team rocks.
Our varsity team is made up of 7th - 9th grade students. Our student-athletes competed on Tuesday at Clover and ran against the Clover and Ft. Mill Varsity team. Those teams are comprised of 9th - 12th grade students. Can you imagine what it's like stepping up to the start line, as a 7th grader, standing in between a senior and a sophomore? That has to take the courage of a lion. Well our team did, and check out the results from the 400M event:

Number 4) We have an awesome Board.
On Tuesday, the Riverwalk Academy Board held their general meeting and it was a great meeting. Not only did they spend a few extra minutes recognizing some extraordinary students, but they did so in style!
|
Number 3) We love our music!
I was going to check on something outside on Thursday when I ran into the 4th grade class with Mr. Wright during their music class. Mr. Wright had his students making some beautiful music on their recorders, while outside enjoying the beautiful Spring weather.
Number 2) Our PTO is spectacular.
In the middle of their fundraiser, Community Day planning, and everything else they do, they surprised the staff with a lunch on Wednesday. The timing of their lunch couldn't have been any better. The staff had an extra pep in their step Wednesday afternoon.

Number 1) Our parents are the best!
We'll wait to share some pictures from Saturday's PTO Community Day, but the number of you who showed up was impressive. You all keep answering "the call for help." Because of you, our grounds look outstanding. We still have some work to do, but this weekend showed everyone why our Pride is Powerful.

Lions, we are half way there. Thanks to you, the PTO has raised $5,000 towards their Project Green. Please consider helping bring closure to this project. We promise, you're in for a visual treat tomorrow when you come by to see all the work that was done over the weekend.

Riverwalk Academy
Bowling night at Strikers is this Sunday.
The lane reservation has been extended until Wednesday
! There will be Raffle Baskets and prizes on the night, be sure to tell your family and Friends! All funds are going toward our School beautification project.

Parents, thanks to the hard work of our PTO, Rivers the Lion now comes in multiple forms. Above is Rivers as a cartoon. He also likes to go on adventures. Below is a picture of Rivers when he spent the weekend at the USC Natatorium.

We'll share with everyone next week how you can check Rivers out so he can go on an adventure with you and your family. We'll create a way to track Rivers and all of his upcoming travels.

Elementary Teachers at Adventure Air
|
Lions, on Thursday at 5:30 pm, your elementary teachers (Ms. Jackson, Ms. Mavrakis, Ms. Wilson, and Ms. Laster) will compete against other elementary teachers from different schools in the area at the Rock Hill Adventure Air Elementary Teachers Olympics.
The middle school teachers competed two weeks ago and it was a blast. Riverwalk Academy walked away with the spectator awards, for having the most fans in attendance.
Spectators get in for only $3 and the school who comes in 1st place in the events, will win 100% of the spectators' fees.
We hope to see you there Thursday.
