A Note From Dr. Compton
Dear Lions,

Here we are, the final two weeks of the 2018 - 2019 school year. It's hard to believe that that this school year is winding down. I still remember the first day of school this year like it was yesterday. Between that first day of school, and these final days, a lot of memories were made. We accomplished a lot this year and we have so much to be proud of. I'll be the first to admit that we were not 100% perfect 100% of the time. However, I commend the Riverwalk Academy staff for showing up this year and being brave in our attempt to provide each student a 10 out of 10, every day.

Over these next two weeks I want to take a minute to introduce you all to some of the new staff that will be joining us next school year.
Joining our high school team is Ms. Kunde. Ms. Kunde, who will be in her 4th year teaching, comes highly recommended and will be teaching Algebra I and Algebra II. What we were most impressed with about Ms. Kunde was how she uses projects and real-life applications to help students make connections to their math content.

Don't panic, Mr. Belle, along with all of the middle and high school teachers, will be back next year. Mr. Belle will be teaching Computer Science Discoveries and Fundamentals of Web Design for us for the upcoming school year.
Also joining our team is Ms. Robinson. Ms. Robinson will serve as our front office administrative assistant. Her friendly smile and willingness to support everyone who walks in through our front door is what impressed us about Ms. Robinson. Ms. Robinson will replace Ms. Thomas. We'd like to thank Ms. Thomas for her years of services and wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors.

I can't wait to introduce you all next week to the other new faces that will be joining our Pride next school year.

Let's finish these final eight days strong!

End of the Year Bash and Talent Showcase
Pride, our PTO is throwing an end-of-the-year bash on Saturday, June 1st. The event starts at 4:00 pm and lasts until 8:00 pm.

They are looking for student, and/or adult acts, to perform during the event. If you have a talent that you would like to share and you would like to perform please click here to sign up!
Lions' Den
The last day for Lions Den After School program is on Wednesday, June 5th.
Yearbooks will be distributed to 8th/9th grade students on Thursday and on Friday to K - 7th graders. We do have a limited number of yearbooks available for purchase, first come-first serve. They may only be purchased via our online school store beginning Thursday at 7:30am. Yearbooks purchased online will be distributed to the students ASAP . The cost for the yearbooks are $25 for softcover and $30 for hard cover.
Consider Donating Your Extra School Supplies
As some of you might know, Jazmine Sepulveda, pictured with Senator Tim Scott, won the Prudential Spirit of Community Award for the State of South Carolina. She has asked for our help with donations of school supplies.

Beginning next week, you can help her by dropping off any used or surplus school supplies (book bags, binders, crayons, pens, pencils, lunch boxes, etc.) that are still in usable condition in one of the boxes in the school building.

This box will be easy to find, for it will have a logo on it that reads "The Heart of a Star." These items will be sent to the Dominican Republic for children who are living in poverty. We thank you for your support and remember one man's trash is another man's treasure! Power of the Pride!!!!!!
Lion Artists of the Week
