There are several projects underway in Chino. Many of these projects have been in the works for years and once completed, will bring much needed improvements to our community.


We appreciate your patience as you navigate the inconvenience of detours and road closures. Remember to plan ahead and follow posted signage and detours.

Northbound Euclid Increased To Two Lanes

Euclid Avenue from Pine Avenue to Bickmore Avenue - COMPLETED

Euclid Avenue has been re-striped from Pine Avenue to Bickmore Avenue to accommodate a second northbound lane.

Chino Youth Christmas Parade & Fair Closures

Riverside Drive and Central Avenue

Expect full closures of Riverside Drive and Central Avenue on the morning of December 10 for the annual Chino Youth Christmas Parade. Side streets begin closures on Friday at 6:00pm.

Bickmore Avenue Full Closure

November 9 - Early January 2023

Bickmore Avenue from Euclid Avenue to Quality/Mayhew

Full Closure in both directions beginning November 9 through early January 2023 for sewer and storm drain improvements as a condition of the Alere development (located on the northeast corner of Euclid and Bickmore.) Detour route will be east on Kimball and south on Rincon Meadows.

 

Looking Ahead: After full closure is completed, additional public improvements will be ongoing and may include temporary lane reductions.

City Road Improvements

Chino Ave. between Mountain Ave and Bunker Hill Place

Intermittent lane closures with at least one lane ope in each direction at all times to perform pothole work in preparation for storm drain installation.


Central Avenue at Eucalyptus

Ongoing temporary lane closures at the intersection related to development related public improvements to roadway, sidewalk, and traffic signal. Work to be completed by end of the year.


Cypress Avenue from Chino Avenue to Walnut Ave and Westbound Walnut Avenue from Cypress Avenue to San Antonio

Closure in place Monday through Friday 7:00am-4:30pm beginning May 26 through November 2022 for the installation of a water transmission main.



Schaefer Avenue from East End to Euclid Avenue

Temporary lane closures from 8:00am - 4:00pm on short portions of the road for asphalt repairs in preparation for slurry seal pouring beginning in October. At that time residents should anticipate single lane closures in either direction.


November 14 - November 25 - Slurry Seal from Central Ave to East End 

October 28 - November 18 - Layout & Striping From Central to Euclid

November 28 - December 9 - Layout and Striping from Central to East End


PRESERVE ROAD IMPROVEMENTS



Pine Avenue from West Preserve Loop to Homecoming Drive

Pine Avenue will be reduced to one lane in both directions between West Preserve Loop and Homecoming Drive for the duration of the project. Additionally, access to East Preserve Loop south of Pine will be closed for the duration of the project. Motorists may notice periodic reconfigurations and K-Rail as the project progresses. Access will remain one lane in both directions.


Detours: Residents of The Preserve can take Kimball as an alternate route. Eastvale residents are encouraged to take Archibald north to Merrill. Residents south of Pine can use Market Street to Hellman, additionally, Legacy Park St is now opened and available as an alternate route. Truck traffic will be diverted to Merrill. 

 

Kimball Avenue from Euclid Avenue to Rincon Meadows 

Expect intermittent lane closures with at least one lane open at all times. Still to come: New traffic signals at Quality Way and Fire Station #63, landscape installation, and street light installation, may require occasional day-time lane closures.


Merrill Avenue from Euclid Avenue to Carpenter Avenue

City of Ontario development related improvements to widen Merrill to 4-lanes. Work expected to be completed by end of 2023.



Chino Hills Parkway at Ramona Avenue

As a condition of the Prologis Development (located on Yorba and Eucalyptus), road improvements are beginning at Chino Hills Parkway between Ramona Avenue and the northbound SR-71 on-ramp and will be ongoing through the end of this week. The City of Chino Traffic Division will actively monitor the intersection and adjust the timing of traffic signals to improve traffic flow.


The Project will:

  • Add a second left turn lane on eastbound Chino Hills Parkway to turn north onto Ramona Avenue.
  • Expand the length of the left turn pockets to add capacity for the left turn movement and allow traffic to flow more efficiently.
  • Demolish and reconstruct the median to accommodate the additional left turn lane.
  • Enhance pavement for truck traffic.
  • Re-stripe and sign the area.
  • Add a bike lane.



Project Impact:

  • Lane reductions in both directions on Chino Hills Parkway between Ramona Avenue and the northbound SR-71 on-ramp.
  • K-Rail installed around the perimeter of work area for the duration of the project.
  • Chino Hills Parkway southbound off-ramps reduced to one lane.
  • North/South crosswalk closure on west side of intersection of Ramona Avenue and Chino Hills Parkway.

Chino and Montclair Area Overlay Project

Chino and Montclair areas for pavement rehabilitation. (click on map for full notice)

The County of San Bernardino Department of Public Works is beginning the Chino & Montclair Area Overlay Project. The project will include overlaying the roads with various resurfacing treatments to improve the look and driving experience.


This work will be performed between September 2022 and April 2023. Normal working hours will be between the hours of 7:00 A.M. and 4:30 P.M. Monday through Friday.


There will be “No Parking Signs” posted indicating the specific dates work will be performed on the street. During working hours, access to the public will be limited. In an effort to keep residents, crews and property safe, please follow these guidelines:

1. Do not park your vehicles on the roadway

2. Do not allow water to run on the roadway

3. Do not allow children to play in the roadway

4. Do not place trash cans or other debris on the roadway

Police Training on Boulder Street

Boulder street from Monte Vista Avenue to Yorba Avenue. 

Full Closure on December 16 from 7:00am -12:00pm for a police training. Local residents and businesses have been notified. Expect to see police activity in the area as part of the training. If you have any questions, please call 909-628-1234.
