N/B Central Avenue Overnight Closure Beginning June 4 - June 16

Central Avenue New Water Main Installation

Please be advised of the following disruptions as crews proceed with the new water main installation in the Civic Center area.


Central Avenue (Northbound) from Chino Avenue and C Street

Impact: Full northbound closure from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. beginning Sunday, June 4, through Friday, June 16.

Detour: 6th Street


D Street from Central Avenue to 7th Street

Impact: Full closure from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. beginning Sunday, June 11, through Friday, June 23. 

Detour: Chino Avenue


D Street between 6th Street and 7th Street

Impact: Lane reductions with one lane maintained in each direction at all times beginning June 26.

Capital Improvement Project - Street Slurry

Impact: Intermittent road closures for six to eight hours in seven neighborhoods. Work will occur in the following areas from June through July. Residents in the impacted area will receive notice 72 hours prior to work beginning.

More About the Project:

This Capital Improvement Project offers an efficient and cost-effective way to protect and preserve the roadways within a neighborhood. Slurry seal will extend the lifespan of the pavement, prevent cracks, potholes and other forms of deterioration.

Central Ave Nighttime Lane Closures

Central Widening Project (SBCTA)

During the month of June, crews on the SR 60/Central Avenue project will finish pavement work throughout the corridor, begin to construct the median on Central Avenue, and paint the new Central Avenue bridge.


The northbound (NB) and southbound (SB) Central Avenue inside lanes between Columbus Street and the Chase Bank driveway are scheduled to be closed nightly from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. on weekdays beginning Monday, June 5 through Friday, June 16 (into Saturday morning). During this time there will also be intermittent lane closures on eastbound (EB) and westbound (WB) SR 60 at Central Avenue between the on- and off-ramps.

71/91 Interchange Project

SR-71 and SR-91 Lane Closures

Impact:

The Riverside County Transportation Commission’s 71/91 Interchange Project will require roadway closures the weekend of June 9-12. The closures will allow crews to safely lift a large support structure in the 91 median, place it in a pre-drilled hole, and pour concrete to form the foundation for one of the support columns for the new interchange.

Eastbound 91 Green River Road On-Ramp

  • Friday, June 9 from 9:00 p.m. to Saturday, June 10 at 7:00 a.m.
  • Saturday, June 10 from 9:00 p.m. to Sunday, June 11 at 7:00 a.m.
  • Sunday, June 11 from 9:00 p.m. to Monday, June 12 at 5:00 a.m.


Day and Nighttime Weekend Full Closures

Eastbound and Westbound 91 Express Lanes

  • Friday, June 9 from 9:00 p.m. to Monday, June 12 at 5:00 a.m.


Additionally, various overnight lane and ramp closures will be in effect throughout the project.




More About the Project:

The Riverside County Transportation Commission, in partnership with Caltrans, is reconstructing the 71/91 Interchange Project in Corona.


The new non-tolled interchange is designed to improve safety, expand access to other modes of travel, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, enhance traffic flow, and support continued movement of native wildlife through the area. Construction will take place from early 2023 to 2025.

City Road Improvements

Benson Avenue and Portsmouth Street

Impact:

Please anticipate lane narrowing and occasional flagging as work proceeds with at least one lane in each direction always available.


Starting this week, the contractor will initiate mobilization and perform preliminary investigative work on the street section. Following this phase, the team will proceed to the trenchwork, progressing to repair the sewer line as needed.


Timeline:

The project is scheduled from June 1st through June 16th, 2023.


More About the Project:

The scope of this project includes establishing a new connection from a sewer lateral to the main sewer line on Benson Avenue.


Chino High School

Impact:  

Lanes have shifted; one lane will be maintained in each direction at all times.


Timeline

10th Street and Jefferson Avenue - Anticipated opening week beginning of June 2023. 

Benson Avenue and 10th St - Street Paving will be finished June 2023. 


Central Avenue, Dupont Avenue & D Street 

Impact: 

Intermittent lane closures with at least one lane open in each direction at all times. Streets Impacted:

  • Dupont Avenue, Gates Street and Alton Street.
  • Central from Chino to C Street
  • D Street from Central to 5th Street


Timeline

Final pavement restoration and roadway striping are still outstanding. 

Dupont Avenue from April 6, 2023, through. summer 2023.

Central Avenue at Eucalyptus Avenue

Impact:

Temporary lane closures at the intersection.


Timeline:

Completion expected late spring 2023. Roadway striping are still outstanding.

Public improvements to roadway, sidewalk and traffic signal. Final pavement restoration and roadway striping are still outstanding.


Chino Avenue between Mountain Ave and Bunker Hill Place

Impact:

Intermittent lane closures with at least one lane open in each direction at all times.


Timeline:

From June 1st to June 9th, 2023, asphalt and concrete in five lanes will be removed and replaced with new crosswalk concrete, involving closure and reopening of lanes in stages to minimize disruption.


Completion expected summer 2023. SCE and utility companies need to relocate their conflicting utilities.

D Street from Monte Vista Avenue to 2nd Street

Impact:

Intermittent lane closures.


Timeline:

Monday, January 30 through June 2023.


Detour Information:

2nd Street to C Street or Chino Avenue.

Public improvements include storm drain, curb, gutter, sidewalk, pedestrian ramps and crosswalks. Local access will be maintained.


Edison Avenue from Central Avenue to east of Oaks Avenue

Impact:

Driveway at YMCA building is closed.


Timeline:

End of summer 2023.


Detour Information:

Access YMCA via 12th entrance on Edison Avenue or from College Park Avenue.


More About the Project:

Construction of storm drain, street widening, curb, gutter & sidewalk, pavement rehabilitation, Ayala Park entrance improvements, traffic signal improvements, and pedestrian accessibility improvements as part of the College Park ultimate Improvement Project.


Merrill Avenue from Euclid Avenue to Stearman Drive

Impact:

Full 24-hour closure in both directions. Bon View Avenue closed from Eucalyptus Avenue to Merrill Avenue.


Timeline:

Begins Friday, February 10, 2023, through early June 2023. (Recent rain events have impacted the end date.)

More About the Project:

As part of the Ontario Ranch Business Park development, extensive improvements to Merrill Avenue near the intersection of Euclid are underway. The Ontario developer will be installing major underground utilities like sewer, storm drain and water connections.


Access to the Chino Airport and its businesses will be maintained at all times from the east on Merrill Avenue at Bon View Avenue.


Ramona Avenue (Chino Hills Parkway City to Philadelphia Avenue)

Impact:

One lane closure Prep work (Striping removals, crack seal, and patch repair)


Timeline: May 30-June 9

More about the Project:

Slurry seal June 12-June 21, Striping - July 5-July 7.



Olive Place at Walnut Avenue

Impact:

Intermittent lane closures with at least one lane open in each direction at all times.


Timeline:

Completion expected end of May 2023.

PRESERVE ROAD IMPROVEMENTS



Bickmore Avenue from Euclid Avenue to Quality/Mayhew

Impact:

Full 24-hour closure westbound direction.  

 

Developer Update:

A sinkhole has been discovered on the north side of the roadway, located approximately 400 feet west of the Quality Way intersection. 


The sinkhole is situated along the alignment of an existing sewer main that was previously constructed as part of the adjacent industrial development on Quality Way (Altitude). City staff has taken immediate action by coordinating with the developer's team to conduct a comprehensive investigation and determine the necessary repairs for the roadway.


The investigation is actively ongoing, and we anticipate being able to provide a more comprehensive update next week. As a result, the closure of the Bickmore Avenue westbound lane, unfortunately, will be extended beyond initial projections of May 30.

Kimball Avenue to Quality Way


More About the Project:

Work completed includes sewer and storm drain improvements as a condition of the Alere development Detour. After full closure is completed, additional public improvements will be ongoing and may include temporary lane reductions.



Kimball Avenue from Euclid Avenue to Rincon Meadows 

Impact:

Intermittent off-peak lane closures with at least one lane open at all times. To complete work on remedial items.


Timeline:

Completion of remedial items scheduled for May 2023. Work has been completed; punch-list items remain which may require occasional lane closures outside of peak hours.


More About the Project: As part of the ongoing development in The Preserve, Kimball Avenue, between Euclid Avenue and Rincon Meadows Avenue is being improved to include the installation of underground utilities, raised median, streetlights, traffic signals and the installation of a large storm drain to help reduce flooding in the area. 



Pine Avenue from West Preserve Loop to Homecoming Drive

Impact:

Pine Avenue will be reduced to one lane in both directions between West Preserve Loop and Homecoming Drive and access to East Preserve Loop south of Pine will be closed for the duration of the project.


Timeline:

July 30, 2022, through end of June 2023. (Schedule may be impacted by recent rain events)


Detour Information:

Residents of The Preserve can take Kimball Avenue as an alternate route. Eastvale residents are encouraged to take Archibald north to Merrill. Residents south of Pine can use Market Street to Hellman, additionally, Legacy Park St is now open and available as an alternate route. Truck traffic will be diverted to Merrill. 


More About the Project:

As part of the development of the Town Center at The Preserve, Pine Avenue between West Preserve Loop and Harvest/Homecoming is being improved. 

Improvements include widening the road to 5 lanes, 2 new traffic signals, repaving of Pine and installation of underground utilities & center medians. Once completed, this project will relieve congestion & improve traffic flow on Pine Avenue.
