IDOT to Shut Down Road Projects
The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) has sent notice to their contractors to stop all construction and prepare to make construction work zones safe for a possible “long term” shut down by June 30. This road construction shut down is due to the lack of a state budget and an appropriation. This will impact several Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) projects where federal funding is administered by IDOT:
  • Washington Street Grade Separation
  • Ela at Route 12 intersection improvement
  • Deerfield Road - in the Village of Deerfield and City of Highland Park
  • Waukegan Road (IL 43) Traffic Signal improvements

Note:  While the State of Illinois is shutting down their construction projects due to their budget woes, there will be no impact on the Washington Street project that is being done in front of our building.

Note2: The legislature is meeting in Springfield this week to discuss a stop gap budget. This situation could change if a bill passes that includes funding for transportation
