As if the road work wasn't exciting enough, we have also learned that a film crew will be in the neighborhood closing streets around campus on Friday and Monday for King Street. While we cannot confirm whether they are filming an action movie, a disaster film, or a documentary about patience of faculty, parents and students trying to get to school.... nonetheless it will cause additional challenges these next few days.

Streets impacted are Link Road, Benedict Road, St. James, Buttonwood, Esmac Court… you name it, it’s impacted.

Please note that your children will have an excused late attendance during these construction and filming days.

Not sure we are going to be able to tell the difference between the road construction and post-apocalyptic film.

All kidding aside, thank you for your patience as we literally navigate around these obstacles!

Yours in traffic,

Hello everyone,

So, to summarize today:

Signs say work is Friday

Today is Friday

No work is occurring Friday

Stay tuned…

October 15, 2026

As a follow-up to our ongoing roadwork adventure, additional roadwork signs appeared on Buttonwood Road around 9:30 AM this morning announcing that work would take place on Thursday, however no specific date is shown.

As many of you may have noticed, today is in fact Thursday.

At the time of this email, however, no work has begun. We contacted the Community Board and were informed that milling may begin on Buttonwood Road tomorrow. When stating that the signs specifically reference Thursday, we were advised that they could not confirm exactly when the work would occur.

So, to summarize:

  • Signs say work is Thursday.
  • Today is Thursday.
  • No work is occurring Thursday.
  • Work may occur Friday.
  • No one can confirm Friday.
  • We remain committed to monitoring this developing situation.

At this point, the roadwork schedule appears to be operating on a level of mystery and suspense typically reserved for season finales of a Netflix show, however we might be challenged by our very own Escape Room on Todt Hill.

Should heavy equipment, milling machines, or any other clues materialize, we will share updates as soon as we learn more. Until then, please allow extra travel time, remain patient, know that once the work begins we will not hold your child accountable for their lateness.

Thank you as always for your support and understanding.

Good Afternoon,

I would like to apologize for the significant traffic disruptions around campus today and for the frustration and inconvenience they have caused during drop-off and throughout the morning commute.

I remain in regular communication with the Department of Transportation and continue to request advance notice whenever road work is scheduled near the school. Unfortunately, despite my efforts, I am not always provided with the lead time needed to notify families in advance. I share your frustration and understand how challenging these unexpected disruptions can be.

Today, the streets surrounding campus are being milled and crews expect work to continue until approximately 6:00 PM or 7:00 PM tonight. I have been advised that paving will take place sometime within the next 10 days to two months. While that timeline is understandably broad, please know that IF I receive more specific information, I will communicate it to everyone as quickly as possible.

I recognize that today's road work, as well as roadwork in the past couple of weeks, has added additional travel on various roads and considerable time to many of your morning drives. I anticipate that afternoon pick-up may also be affected and appreciate your patience, flexibility and understanding as the Academy navigates circumstances that are largely beyond our control.

Please know that I will continue advocating for better communication from the city and will keep you informed whenever updates become available.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership.

Sincerely,

Eileen F. Corigliano, EdD
