Greetings!
Precinct 3 Turn-lane improvements
Precinct 3 has added turn-lane storage at the following locations:

  • Right-turn lane at westbound Woodlands Parkway turning onto northbound Branch Crossing Drive.
  • Left-turn lane at eastbound Rayford Road turning onto Waterbend Cove.

Precinct 3 currently is working on additional turn-lane storage at the following locations:

  • Right-turn lane from northbound Six Pines Drive to eastbound Woodlands Parkway is nearly complete. (See image below)
  • Right-turn lane storage along southbound Woodloch Forest Drive onto westbound Woodlands Parkway is under construction. (See image below)
Commissioner Noack's office will continue to survey and add turn-lane storage, as needed, on Precinct 3 roads.
Road Projects
  • In the coming weeks, all drainage pipe installation will be completed from just east of the Union Pacific Railroad Bridge to Brookchase Drive. Once crews finish this portion, they will start the stretch of drainage pipe installation from Fox Run Boulevard to the Grand Parkway.

  • Concrete has been poured for two of the westbound lanes on the east side of the UPRR bridge. Dirt prep continues on the west side of the bridge.
  • The contractor also is working on completing the bridge wall.
  • Crews are continuing to lay asphalt and complete curb and gutter work on the new lanes from Rayford Bend to the DD6 bridge near Aldine Westfield Road.
  • Signal crews are preparing to install the new, larger signal poles at the intersections of Rayford and Geneva and Rayford and Imperial Oaks/East Hawthorne, then will continue to work on intersections to the east.
Alternating Lane Closures as Needed:

  • Eastbound and westbound temporary lane closures will occur Monday through Saturday, as needed, from Richards Road to the Grand Parkway for the duration of the project.

Thank you for your patience while construction crews continue to work as quickly and safely as possible. We recognize that construction can cause inconveniences, and we appreciate your understanding during this process. Please follow all road signs, pay attention to barriers and watch for crew members in the right of way.

Plan ahead, stay alert and drive safely!

Work on Woodlands Parkway
  • The Woodlands Parkway widening project is nearing completion and should be finished within the next few weeks, weather permitting.

  • The contractor is making final improvements to the westbound lanes before the lanes open. Remaining work includes medians, striping, signage, ditch/retention and general concrete repair on older lanes.

  • Once completed, the Woodlands Parkway project will widen the thoroughfare from six to eight lanes just west of I-45 to 0.5 miles west of Grogan’s Mill Road.
  • It adds one full lane in each direction to provide better mobility along Woodlands Parkway. There also will be dedicated right-turn lanes and acceleration lanes at all intersections.
Birnham Woods project
Current work on Birnham Woods Drive

  • The Birnham Woods widening project also is nearing completion. The contractor is working to install the rails on the new bridge. Once the bridge is complete and all minor median and signal work is finished, the new lanes will be striped and then open to motorists.
