Walk-Through Registration is tomorrow!

This Roadrunner provides information about what to expect at Walk-Through Registration, as well as helpful information about PTA memberships, our Dollar-a-Day annual campaign, school supply kits, eScrip, and the Breakfast Book Club.

Date: Wednesday, Aug. 20
Time: 9 am to 12 pm, 6 pm to 8 pm
Place: Walnut Grove Multi-Purpose Room
What if you miss Walk-Through Registration?

To protect the privacy of each student, student information -- such as teacher assignments and emergency cards -- can ONLY be released to the custodial parent/guardian. 

A custodial parent/guardian who misses Walk-Through Registration must come to the school office, show proof of residency, and update the student's emergency card to complete the student's registration and receive the teacher assignment.
Please contact the Walnut Grove school office (925-426-4250) with any questions regarding this procedure.
Online registration closes on Aug. 20

Wednesday, Aug. 20 is the last day to complete online registration. If you did not receive your student'online registration code, please call the school office at 426-4250.

You can also receive your code and complete online registration at the school computer lab during Walk-Through Registration. Keep in mind, however, that doing so will extend the amount of time you spend at Walk-Through Registration. If possible, it is best to complete online registration before arriving at Walk-Through Registration. 
Preparing for Walk-Through Registration

Please allow plenty of time 

Allow time for waiting in lines, reviewing/updating your student's emergency card, catching up with friends, and visiting the various tables in the Multi-Purpose Room. For example, you can add money to your student's school lunch account, pick up or order spirit wear, learn about school clubs, etc.

Bring the following to Walk-Through Registration:
  • Online registration receipt
  • Checkbook if you chose to pay by check during online registration
  • Signature page (1 per student) from online registration. Note: Remember to have your student sign the signature page too!
  • TWO current and different proofs of residency, such as the following:
    • Current utility bill (cable, PG&E, water, garbage, or landline phone). Note: Cell phone bills will NOT be accepted as proof of residency.
    • Recent close of escrow papers
    • Recently signed rental/lease agreement with the name, address, and telephone number of the lessor.
  • Emergency card information
    • Health insurance information
    • Your student's medical information (medical condition and medications)
    • Names and phone numbers for adults who are authorized to pick up, care for, and authorize medical treatment for your student

PTA Memberships

Stop by the PTA table for your membership card
If you joined the PTA during online registration, please stop by the PTA Membership table during Walk-Through Registration to pick up your 2014-2015 PTA membership card, along with a Legoland Kids Go Free coupon.

Individual or family membership?
If you purchased a PTA membership online, please stop by the PTA Membership table to let us know which adult(s) in your household will be the PTA member(s). This is especially important for those who purchased individual memberships. If you miss Walk-Through Registration, please send this information to Julie Kenney.

Joining the PTA
If you didn't join the PTA during online registration, don't worry -- you can still join at Walk-Through Registration and throughout the school year. An individual membership is $16, and a family membership for two adults in the same household is $25.

Membership discounts/perks
When you show your PTA membership card at local merchants, you can receive great discounts, like free kids meals at Eddie Papa's and the Hop Yard or discounted notary and hair salon services. 

Find out more about the PTA Shops P-town program at the Pleasanton PTA Council website. As a Walnut Grove PTA member, you will also have access to membership perks offered by the California State PTA and the National PTA
Can you spare a dollar a day?

Please support our school, teachers, and students by contributing to our Dollar-a-Day annual campaign during fall registration.

Where does the money go?
Dollar-a-Day donations pay for the fall and spring musicals, library books and additional library hours, playground equipment, science lab materials, art programs, student assemblies, family fun events, technology, teacher support, the spelling bee, the science fair, student intervention, and much more!


Suggested donation - $180/student or $250/family

Our suggested tax-deductible donation is $1 for each of the 180 days in the school year -- that is, $180 per student or $250 per family for those with multiple students at Walnut Grove. 


However, ANY AMOUNT is very much appreciated and will be put to good use.


If you missed the opportunity to donate to Dollar-a-Day during online registration, don't worry -- you can still donate during Walk-Through Registration!

eScrip is a wonderful fundraising opportunity for Walnut Grove. Once your eScrip account is set up, simply shop as you normally would at your favorite local retailers, and Walnut Grove gets a donation of up to 10% of your purchase amount.  


How it works


Visit and select Walnut Grove (group number 136960170) as your neighborhood school. You can then add your Safeway reward card number, credit card numbers, and/or debit card numbers. When you shop using these cards, a percentage of your purchases will be given to Walnut Grove.


Please set up your eScrip account or renew today! (Note: eScrip accounts must be renewed each year.)

Walnut Grove school supply kits
      School Supply Kits
School supply kits are a suggested, voluntary contribution to your child's class and include all of the essentials for the school year...pencils, binders, notebooks, markers, glue, scissors, etc. School supply kits also provide science lab notebooks; a case of copy paper per class; and student planners for the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. 

Many of you purchased school supply kits for your children in the spring. However, if you are unsure, you can check the list at the School Supply Kit table at Walk-Through Registration.

The prices for school supply kits are as follows:
  • K - $28
  • 1st - $38
  • 2nd - $36
  • 3rd - $48
  • 4th - $54
  • 5th - $52
Visit the Coloma Bake Sale at 
Walk-Through Registration
Each year our 4th graders have a unique opportunity to attend an outdoor education school in Coloma. During this 3-day excursion, the students will experience a hands-on program of living history and environmental education, focusing on the California Gold Rush.  

Please help fund this opportunity by purchasing delicious baked goods at the Coloma table during Walk-Through Registration.
Join the Breakfast Book Club!                                                               
The Breakfast Book Club (BBC) meets on seven Wednesday mornings throughout the year from 8:15 to 9:00 am. All students in 1st to 5th grades are welcome, although club membership is limited to 110 students each year. Club members share breakfast together and then take part in fun book discussions in small groups led by trained, volunteer parent leaders. The BBC member donation covers the cost of books, breakfast, a potential author's visit, and the BBC end-of-the-year party.

The sign-up deadline to participate in the BBC for the 2014-2015 school year is Friday, Aug. 29, 2014. Sign up at the BBC table at Walk-Through Registration, or drop your child's registration form in the BBC box in the school office.
