419 Transportation Meeting - January 4th

You told us that solving congestion on 419 should be our top priority.

Could a new diverging diamond design, like the one now open at Valley View, help solve traffic and safety issues at the Route 419 and Route 220 interchange at Tanglewood Mall? Is it possible to connect the study area to the expanding greenway network? Can we create an environment where cars, pedestrians, bicyclists and buses can safely coexist on Electric Road?

These questions will be explored at the next Reimagine 419 community meeting on  January 4, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the:

4500 South Peak Boulevard
Roanoke, VA 24018

The planning team will present preliminary transportation and infrastructure drawings, then provide time for informal discussions on the recommendations, which include:
  • Changes in traffic flow to reduce congestion
  • New streets to create a more urban grid
  • Green stormwater management strategies.

CORTRAN and STAR service will be extended until 9 p.m. for this meeting.
