A Note from Scott and Marsha
June 23, 2022
We are having a roaring good time this week. The first day of summer is upon us- believe it or not after last week's weather- and all the effort you put forth this spring should be paying off. Look at you blooming in your own backyard!

We certainly appreciated the small reprieve this past weekend. A little "cold" snap in the 50's never hurt anyone's feelings. We noticed the Tobacco Trail was packed Sunday with bikers and walkers. Who didn't want to be outside?! It was truly beautiful.

But I can tell you who didn't want to be outside: Rex, for fear he would fly away.

This is Jack, our Landscape Operations Manager, with his new friend Rex. T-Rex, that is.

To lend a hand last week, I ran out to pick up 1-0-K balloons to celebrate our @fgsdurham Instagram account hitting 10,000 followers. We have been hard after this for about four years now and it really has been a group effort. Many people have contributed to this milestone; some here and some past. We wanted to be sure we celebrated this big day. It isn't as easy as it may look!

As I was heading out, I asked Jack if he needed anything and he said, "I want a balloon!" Of course, he was kidding.

One of the things we love about Jack is his ability to eat whatever he wants. There are MANY things we love honestly, but this might be my favorite as I live vicariously through his lunches. I have seen him eat 4 hot dogs with buns. He can slam down 3-4 bratwursts and a bag of Pizza Rolls. (You know the old school frozen ones? I didn't even know they were still making these.) One time during a meeting, he brought bread, peanut butter and, jelly and proceeded to make four sandwiches. This was because he needed to "gain weight;" I think that might actually have been the day I tackled him out of his chair and yelled, "Don't ever say that to me again!"

We have to make sure Jack is watered and fed like a plant. When he doesn't eat or forgets to eat because he is so busy, he becomes hangry. No one likes Jack when he is hangry. Like most people, he will become short, curt, and salty, which is not normal for him. When he is like this, we immediately find a snack for him. It's just best to do this so no one gets hurt.

Keep this in mind when your plants are looking at you with their angry eyes. Maybe they need watered and fed, too. That way, no one gets hurt and no one has to die!
