State Representative Kevin Roberts Announces Candidacy for the
2 nd  Congressional District of Texas

Houston, TX – Wednesday, November 8, 2017 –  Following Congressman Ted Poe’s (TX-02) notification yesterday that he will not run for re-election, State Representative Kevin Roberts (HD-126) today announced he will be seeking the Republican nomination to serve as the new U.S. Representative for the region. Roberts currently serves in the Texas State Legislature representing a portion of Northwest Harris County. The 2 nd  Congressional District is wholly within Harris County and includes all, or parts of the following: Atascocita, Champions, Cy-Fair, F.M. 1960 Area, Garden Oaks, Houston, Huffman, Humble, Kingwood, Klein, Montrose, Medical Center, Memorial Park, Old Braeswood, Rice Village, South Hampton, Spring, Spring-Klein, Spring Branch, Summerwood, The Heights, West University.

“Congressman Poe has been a tremendous example of what true servant-leadership means in the House of Representatives. He brought a no-nonsense, straight-forward approach to solving the challenges our nation faced and dealt directly with problems in our federal government,” Roberts said. “Our region is still reeling from the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. We need dedicated, effective leadership to help the thousands of families and small business who have been affected by that devastating storm. The strength and resiliency our neighbors and communities have shown throughout this recovery effort is an inspiration to me as I offer myself as a conservative, Republican candidate to serve on their behalf.”

Roberts Pledges to Continue a Legacy of Limited Government Conservatism

“From my time serving in the State Legislature, I have a proven record of delivering conservative results that seek to make our government more effective, while limiting its powers to intervene in our lives. President Trump and this Congress have begun to roll back the damaging effects of eight years of the Obama Administration, but there is much more to do. From getting rid of Obamacare to strengthening our military, securing our border, and continuing the necessary work to unravel debilitating government regulations and taxes that have strangled our nation, there is no shortage of conservative reforms that are needed to create a stronger future for our children and nation.

I am asking for the vote and support of conservatives across the 2 nd  Congressional District so we can ensure we have a voice in Congress who understands the Texas model of success: fewer regulations and taxes coupled with pro-growth policies are necessary to create more freedom, opportunity, and prosperity for our families and small businesses.”
