Christmas Production, "Angels on Assignment"
Annual Production to Inspire Thousands During Holiday Season
(Southfield, MI) - Actress Robin Givens has been called "the most hated woman in America" according to Ebony magazine to one of the "Most Sexiest Stars in Film History" by Empire magazine.
Givens certainly has overcome a lot adversity and made some bad decisions over the years but she is now on the path of purpose and passionate about her faith in God. Her first book, "Grace Will Lead You Home" chronicles her transformation. And now she is staring in one of her most positive, touching roles ever, the mother of Jesus.
Givens is the "mother Mary" in the annual Christmas production, "Angels on Assignment" at Christian Tabernacle Church in Southfield, Michigan, Dec. 17-18. The play is free.
"What better way to enter into the holiday season than by seeing the story of Christmas told like never before," said Dr. James L. Morman, Pastor of Christian Tabernacle Church.
"Bring a friend or two and experience a winter wonderland with unexpected surprises. We are excited that Robin will be sharing her talent as Mary, the mother of Christ," said Dr. Morman.
There will be two performances: Saturday, December 17 and Sunday, December 18. Both performances are at 6:00 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m. Christian Tabernacle Church is located at 26555 Franklin Rd. in Southfield. Admission is FREE by ticket only. They are available in the church office Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
The music is provided by The Detroit Chamber Winds and Strings directed by Brenda Sloan. Other familiar faces take the stage including native-Detroiter Lavell Neal, who has provided laughter in the improvisation comedy circuit, played Pilate in Perilous Times. Most recently, he was featured in the ABC network film "Have A Little Faith" by Mitch Albom.
Christian Tabernacle strives to reach out and give back to the community. With a congregation of more than 5,000 members, the church has found success in doing ministry outreach through the arts, like gospel concerts and plays. "Saving souls and making disciples to let the world know Jesus truly is the reason for this season is what we are all about," concluded Dr. James Morman.
