2016 FRONTIER TRAILS REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS

Colorado sent 13 teams to the Frontier Trails BEST Regional championship held on 2 and 3 December at the Fort Smith Convention Center in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. It was an outstanding championship with 38 teams and very competitive robots from 9 BEST Hubs from Colorado, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Kansas. 

The participating Colorado hubs and teams were:
  • Rocky Mountain BEST - 5 Teams: DSST Byers; New Vista High School; Skyline High School; Ralston Valley High School; Innovation Center of St. Vrain Valley (see team photos below)
  • Front Range BEST - 4 Teams: Academy for Advanced and Creative Learning; Chaparral High School; Legend High School; STEM School and Academy 
  • Golden Plains BEST - 2 Teams: Otis High School and Peetz High School
  • SoCo BEST @TrinidadState - 2 Teams: Raton High School and Manzanola Jr-Sr High School

Additional Colorado BEST Hub Team Regional Championship Notes
  1. Founders Award for Creative Design - 1st Place:    Academy for Advanced and Creative Learning (Front Range BEST)
  2. T-shirt Award - 2nd Place: Manzanola Jr-Sr High School (SoCO BEST @TrinidadState)
  3. Game Semi Finalist Teams : Ralston Valley High School (RM BEST) & Otis High School (Golden Plains BEST) 
  4.   Game Wildcard Team : Chaparral High School (Front Range BEST)
  5. Golden Plains Team Accomplishments: Otis Jr-Sr High School made it to the Semi-finals and Peetz Jr-Sr High School almost made it to the semi-finals. That's amazing for a brand new hub and brand new teams!!
  6. DSST: Byers was the only public school in the finals; the other 3 schools were home school conglomerates from KS, OK, and AR.
  7. Kudos to the students from Ralston Valley High School (RM BEST) and DSST: Byers (RM BEST) teams who helped the Academy for Advanced and Creative Learning team resolve a computer coding error while in Arkansas.

WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT TO CONTINUE BRINGING BEST ROBOTICS COMPETITION IN 2017 TO OVER  400  STUDENTS.    ALL OF THIS BENEFIT IS PROVIDED AT NO COST TO COLORADO SCHOOLS! 

Last year, we received  over $ 10,200 from our generous donors and the incentive fund boost from  Community First and First Bank. This year, our goal is to raise $15,000. 
 
$1 Million Incentive Fund  - Thanks to Community First Foundation and First Bank,  Colorado Gives Day features a $1 Million Incentive Fund, one of the largest gives-day incentive funds in the country. Every nonprofit receiving a donation on Colorado Gives Day receives a portion of the Incentive Fund, which increases the value of every dollar donated.

Your support helps us continue to bring robotics  competitions to Colorado to "inspire a youth for a lifetime".
